My Task Scheduler was fine, but I issued the command anyway.
    Unfortunately it didn't help...

    [Edit]
    .Net failed as well:
    Code:
    Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: 2021-01 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2, 4.8 for Windows 7 for x64 (KB4598500)
    [Edit2]
I managed to install both the .Net update and the Malicious Software Removal Tool.

    Hi, everybody.
Reinstalled Windows 7 x64 SP1. I read carefully about bypass ESU. I want to install only updates without Net components through the Update Center. From all that I have read, there are three methods for getting updates through the CO: Install WU SU Patches, Install SU Suppressor method, Permanent fix method. Advise which method to choose or what their differences are. Now the main thing: where to download-bypass ESU itself or there are separate utilities for this.
Thank you for your tips, recommendations and answers.

Then don't install the .net 4 bypass part, but only the ESU + WU patch.

Thank you for the answer, In your answer, as I understand, when installing bypass ESU, you need to select the SU + MU patch???
    Thank you.

For being able to install ESU updates, manually or by WU:

BypassESU-v11 breaks up Office 2010 installation after 2021.01 updates. I don't know why. Only v9 works correctly, It me, or something wrong in newest bypass version?

Did you check this info at the OP?
Uninstall the .net 4 bypass and retry the office install.

After doing the January updates I got a weird issue now where any .msi fails to install. According to event log ID 10005: The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2889.

Couldn't really find a solution online, tried fixing up msiexec, re-registering it. Last time I installed via msi was late Nov last year.

Uninstalled patcher, reboot, same error. Installed v9 again, same. This started days after the January updates were installed via WU. Any ideas?

There are no ideas, if you answer the following questions, ideas may appear:
"Uninstalled patcher" - what was deleted?,
"Installed v9 again" - this is how?,
".NET 4 ESU Bypass" - removed?,
"This started days after the January updates were installed via WU" - the same programs (which were installed without problems on the day of the release of the January updates) are now not available to install?
what programs can not be installed?

I ran BypassESU-v11 and received KB4598279, KB4579977 and KB4598500. This is great. I then removed the .net bypass per the instructions in the OP.

I wasn't offered any updates for Office 2016 so I put the script referenced above into MSU.cmd and ran it, restarted and still no Office updates.

Prior to running the script, WU was already set to receive updates for other Microsoft products.

I have checked for updates with and without the .net bypass and get the same results.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

No, the script only enables microsoft updates and i got the updates offered on WU after i ran the cmd.

Maybe try to click "update options" in the office account and see what options you get.
