I've learned to use Internet Explorer 11 instead of Mozilla Firefox 94 to obtain updates at the Microsoft Update Catalog site. Besides the fact the selection and download process is quicker and easier with IE than it is with MF, IE doesn't flag the downloads as unsafe and abort them like MF does. I've never used Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome or Opera, so I'm not familiar with their issues.
@CaptainSpeleo FF doesn't abort the downloads from the catalog, it just keeps warning you they're unsafe and you can click "keep file". It is annoying, tho, not gonna lie.
When I click on the .msu file link to download and save an update, MF displays a File not downloaded. Potentially security risk. message. I don't have that problem with IE, so that's what I use. Yes, annoying, but no big deal.
I've been using Firefox for many years and I download my KB updates manually every month and have never had any warning message etc from Firefox. I was very surprised to read that some guys get these alerts. @adric, don't forget November Security Only update for Windows 7 (x64)...KB5007233
Are there any Office 2016 updates & Outlook updates for November? If so can someone please post them?
Question about manually updating 7 Embedded &/or POSReady, after installing the Bypass. Only 2021-11 Security Only Quality Update would install. 2021-11 Security Monthly Quality Rollup failed saying that it was already installed (which it clearly wasn't), I tried this one first .Also both 2021-11.Net updates also failed saying that were already installed (but they are not). I was wondering if it would be possible to make a Bypass just for 7 Embedded &/or POSReady, since they are just starting a 2 year ESU program today.
I'm receiving the error, "The Windows Modules Installer must be updated before you can install this package." When I click the link to update the installer, I get a page on MS' site stating that it cannot be found. So far as I've been able to figure out, I've installed all the required updates and such - and sucessfully updated to Oct. 2021 security-only update. Any ideas?
I had no problem at all. All updates (Windows, .NET and Office) are installed. Everything went smoothly, just using Windows Update. The only thing I noticed was, that it took a long time to start downloading the .NET update. It remained "downloading" and showing "0 kB" for about 10 minutes.
I have no problem until this update: kb5007233 it say :the windows module installer must be updated before you can install this package but wmi say updated!
