I sort of knew something like this would come up, given that not many of us don't wish to be enslaved with Windows 10. Thanks a bunch. I'll be downloading these later (perhaps nearer the official EOL) Just one question though... is the first link provided the same as the second, or different? Only asking because of the odd URL it came as.
Thanks for clearing that up @Enthousiast. I've went with the GitLabs one, but I guess it doesn't matter which of these you get it from. Also, do I just run the installer.bat file for the changes to take effect, right? Just making sure.
Yes, that should work, here is the test info: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...urity-updates-eligibility.80606/#post-1560451 In my test with SiMPLiXed win 7, the prerequisited updates were already integrated.
Thanks for this.. hope it stays working after Jan 2020. Just one little note.. it took one unsuccessful try to realize I had to run the bat file as administrator for it to work.
download BypassESU-v2.7z extract BypassESU-v2.7z right-click on installer.bat and "Run as administrator"
Thank you for the quick response and, I'm sure, helping a lot of us novices. Is it only necessary to install BypassESU-v2.7z? Or do I have to do the following? - install the 3 prerequisites: KB4490628 -> KB4474419 -> reboot -> KB4523206 - then install BypassESU-v2.7z - then install the ESU test update KB4528069
Thanks to all involved and kudos to you geniuses! I've been on many other forums for years (even as a mod on several) but this is now my go to site.
Hey guys, I actually have another completely different way of getting updates on Windows 7 until October 2021 if Microsoft finds a way to disable BypassESU. It is called using the Windows 7 "POSReady" updates to patch. I have tried installing the POSReady updates on a regular Windows 7 Pro machine and have not noticed any ill effects. However, this so far is a manual process and I have not found a way to automate it like the trick for Windows XP that was found back in 2014. It would be nice to be able to use this trick as backup plan if Microsoft actually does do something against your trick. Some help to get this trick working would be appreciated. I can provide some video and images of the trick working if you guys would like.
It's an amazing project, lol. I think I will install it on my cousinās PC because he want to use Windows 7, lol.
