WU verify WES7 ESU eligibility using WmiQuery and wuaueng.dll perform the WMI stuff internally, no external functions/dlls are directly imported it would be nearly impossible to patch or hook that
windows server 2008 r2 ESU ( bypass by @abbodi1406 ) works => for home server 2011 ( based on server 2008 R2)
so went to install the windows 7 November update and got an 0x80070424 the specified service does not exist as an installed feature error. went to check in the services control panel and it said windows update was scheduled for deletion and wouldn't let me activate it. now its completely gone from services any one know how to reinstall windows update
I have not been following this thread too closely because I have not had any problems (other than 1 which never worked to begin with). So excuse me if this has been asked and answered multiple times. Anyway as the end of ESU for Windows 7 is now a little over a year away, I have been thinking about just biting the bullet and upgrading to 10 right now. How will that work exactly? My original Windows 7 install was Home. If I just uninstalled Bypass ESU, could I just do an in-place upgrade to Windows 10 Home, or would I need Windows 10 Enterprise since my system has all these extra security updates not found on a system that has Home. Thank you.
If the current roadblocks can successfully be bypassed between now and January 2023, we should be able to keep getting Windows 7 updates until October 2024. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.
I hope not. While keeping 7 up to date with the latest security updates is nice and I am appreciative to those who figured it out, I would rather live with the annoying 10 than reformatting my hard drive and starting over from scratch.
not quite sure what do you mean here - if you can't upgrade in place you'd have to reinstall either way. I'd rather pick an extra few years of 7 myself another thing to consider is that Win 11 just came out and it has a much more 7ish interface than 10. But it's still in early stages and getting features removed and readded, and there's no LTSC yet. I've considered upgrading my primary 7 PC but I decided to give it another year and see if 11 matures and gets an LTSC. (I know M$ has said no LTSC until 2024 but I'd bet you even money it'll come out while ESU & ESU hacks are still operative )
Me too Nykto....I'm on Windows 7 Pro (x64) and happy to continue using it for a long time more. I use the ESU ByPass from MDL and my machine does everything I need it to do. Probably one day I'll upgrade to Windows 11....but I'll need to be sure that it has passed the "Beta" stage that it appears to be going through at the moment...kinda like Windows 10 did/is still doing also.
