Given the facts around "the end or not the end" of Win 7 it is to be expected, that there will be malware offered. There may be even an update from M$ that might attempt to "convince" you to no longer use it, because your computer may suddenly and miraculously fail at certain things... My experience tells me, that there seem to be several people her, who know what they are doing. And when they find anything, they will tell.... That is what worked just fine, three years ago.
I have Win 7 Pro installed; have Edge installed - I had thought when you installed the Win 7 Edge it disabled IE. But I am getting updates from WU for Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems. If I hide this, it reappears again and again. Should I install this even though IE should be disabled, and if I do will it reappear again??
See this post. I ended up hiding 6 IE updates and not installing any of them. Looks like Msoft botched things up once again.
Well, on my WIN 7 Pro I installed Edge, and it DID disable IE 11. I checked it out in Control Panel's Features and it definitely shows IE is not an active Feature any longer. There was a time when Edge was available for Win 10 and beyond, but at some point MS offered it to Win 7 and above. My question remains, if I install the IE11 update, will THAT stop WU from notifying me there is another IE update?
As of this morning, I installed the IE update, and so far 3 hours later, I have not been notified of another IE update available.
I'm on Opera too for the past 5 years and have yet to visit a site that is unavailable for Opera but available for other browsers.
Guys, this is a forum for discussing how to keep Windows 7 updated, not about browsers. Hope you all have hope for this.
Mozilla doesn't plan to end support of Windows 7 this year. 14% of their users are on Windows 7. I don't think so. Steam still supports even 32-bit Windows that are just 0.16%. Windows 7 is 1.71%.

What is "2023-02 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB5017361)" ? KB number is older than the last January rollup but the title says 2023-02. It's being offered on WU after hiding the last 3-4 months of rollups one by one.

Sorry I didn't get back but I've tried everything and even help videos how to get this update. I can't get it. It's an AMD update right. My processor is a i5 2500 so I don't need? At any rate I still want.
