__________________________________ How could I share the CBS.log file that is generated after the installation of the April monthly update (KB5036922) x86 fails?
The latest Quality + Security from May somehow triggered leftovers of unused non-working drivers. I was stuck on a BSOD during the update process until I booted on Safe Mode twice to revert the update and delete the faulty files. After that, the update installed successfully. The drivers were related to a failed firmware update for an Intel LAN controller, which I didn't bothered a second attempt after an instant BSOD on the first try.
Could someone help me with a possible solution to my problem with the April update that I mentioned above (KB5036922) ?
Try disabling any & all security software before running update. Also any other running program not needed to update with. Do you have the latest SSU installed from Feb 2024? (Servicing Stack Update for Windows Embedded Standard 7 for x86-based Systems (KB5034865)). Without getting into the Woody site or your ESU setup or bypass setup this is the best I can do. Did you do a history check of your updates to see if the KB5036922 (32 Bits)is already installed? Real mystery is why May update was flawless & April update failed. Good luck.
Hello Thank you very much for your response and for trying to help me. The KB5034865 update is already installed. I get that message when trying to install it manually by downloading it from the Microsoft Update Catalog site. I still can't install the April update KB5036922. 'Errors' appears in the update history. I would appreciate your help and if you want you could share the cbs.log file I just need to know how I could share that file with you.
I am at my limit of helpful suggestions. You need the help of someone with much more knowledge & experience. I suggest you go back up this page to @Carlos Detweiller & click on his icon or name & then click on start a conversation. Another would be @abbodi1406 as they both are experienced & extremely knowledgeable in all things Win 7. They are responsible for our ESU access. Sorry. Good luck.
Hello. Yesterday I left the PC on all night since it found two updates. I applied all the solutions proposed here in the messages and in the early morning I saw that Windows restarted with the message 'Error in configuration and installation of updates. Reverting the changes. Do not turn off the computer' and then there were errors in the Windows Update update history. I have screenshot of it and CBS.log file, just want to know how and where to share this. I've already exhausted all the possibilities like you. I clarify that this computer is not used with the Internet other than to update Windows and the AV in the Windows 7 partition. I keep Win 7 because I use old software occasionally. When I need to download or work in online mode, I use the partition that has Linux installed (Manjaro xfce x64). Thanks
I usually don't promote other solutions in others threads but did you try https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/simplix-pack-to-update-live-win7-system-integrate-hotfixes-into-win7-distribution.45005/ ?
I tried it before publishing my problem here but either I don't know how to use it correctly or it doesn't work for my problem (I think this last option applies more in my case)
I think I've done that before without success. I'll try it again. Check the cbs.log file that I published here for its contents.
I just did this and it tells me that the latest version has been downloaded and installed, I click accept and I don't see it running or doing anything. It's okay, it doesn't work in my case.
I already found the file. But I had already done this before publishing here, without success. I'm going to try it now
The CBS.log posted has no errors. There must be lines starting with "Error", stating what package it has a problem with. Could be Component Store corruption or locked files. If the CBS log indeed doesn't have error lines, it has been rolled over. In that case, check the next older CBSPersist_<date>.log inside a CAB with the same name.
The program was executed. At the end it asked me to restart and opened a change history log. I share the content of the file below: UpdatePack7.log content:::: The UpdatePack 7/2008 R2 24.5.15 installation log Installation start time - 14:39:08 05/21/2024 Operating system - Windows 7 Starter SP1 x86 KB5037780 - Boot required to complete installation Installation end time - 14:56:50 05/21/2024 The number of installed updates - 1 Total installation time of the Update Package - 17:42 Program operation has completed successfully After the reboot, the message 'Error configuring Windows updates. Reverting the changes. Do not turn off the equipment' is displayed. After this it enters the system normally, notifying that new updates are available through Windows Update. Any ideas or anything I can share with you to find a solution? thanks
