It seems like only a few people have been affected, otherwise more would have reported this by now. Does anyone happen to know of a good program for resetting this? Is it possible to save the history beforehand and then restore it later?
Check my post here @kingscor, for me this solved the issue you have and restored the history: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...dates-eligibility.80606/page-441#post-1884183
For the last 18 months I have used Win Update like an alarm clock to let me know when updates are available. Those major ones (2nd Tue) updates I manually download all from the MS catalog & then turn Update completely off. Kill all running programs & AV. Then I install them manually, myself, one at a time. Restarting when required & after the final update. Once done & restarted, I create a restore point. Then I turn WU back on & set to NOT download but just alert me when updates are available. My AV continues to update itself. I expect in the next 4 months to be completely MS free & using Zorin OS exclusively as my primary OS. Have been using it as my secondary for 3 years now. Very comfortable. Jan 2026 I give up on M$ for good; after decades. Thanks to MDL, abbodi1406 , and all who have donated time, effort & info to make this final 3 years a pleasant journey together. It has been worth the effort & a pleasure meeting most of you. ;>)) lol
Hello. Joined Tuesday? And I am replying to your first short cryptic post ever about a "troubleshoot" problem? I apologize for grinning but; "What in the heck are you not talking about?" Is your cat acting strangely & won't eat the mice you are catching for it? The devil is in the details & you have not shared any. Short quick answer is "You are welcome" & "No, not based on your question".
After the last update, I'm getting BSOD 116 errors once every 4-5 days. This wasn't the case before. Has anyone experienced something similar?
Maybe a few more details? BSOD? Describe the system you updated. Computer; CPU; OS; what it is used for (games, business, etc.)... Saying you got BSOD happening on schedule ever since... does not provide much to go on. Exact KB numbers you updated with. Did you download them yourself & manually update? Use WU? Do you update every month the same way? Is there possibly something else you play with/download/update that could have infected you? What kind of browser(s) are you using? Do you visit shady sites? Me? I monitor using WU & this forum & manually download & update myself every month. NO BSOD so far. Problems I have heard about ARE NOT with Win 7 64 bit systems. Tomorrow is the 2nd Tuesday of August & seems strange you have suffered with this more than weekly for a month without asking. I use Windscribe VPN, MSE AV protection (updates auto regularly); FF 115 updated; a few other protective & blocking apps. I invest & bank on my system, order food & essentials from Amazon, Walmart & eBay on the regular. I VISIT & use FREE (shady) streaming sites on the regular for TV shows, movies, sports, etc. My system works fine, is backed up regular. I glitched two weeks ago. My impression is that I overloaded & froze everything in a loop (maybe more than one) & I simply shut it all down. Win 7 would not start up properly. Through safe mode I changed Admin login PW & managed to get to system restore. I went back 7 days before my frozen system & restored there. That got me started. Only changes were to system files. I updated & ran my AV. I ran WU. Everything fine. No BSOD with my Win 7 laptop.
