So, I'm posting to request either the deletion or banning of my account. It makes no difference to me which one of the staff will do it, since the end result will be the same. Over the time I've been a member here, I've gotten the impression that the majority of members are stuck up, snobby prudes. Writing anything useful here costs effort and time. And I can't get rid of the impression that I waste this time with no sense. I do not understand why anybody would like to create anything in such environment.
You are a valuable member here my friend and it would be a great loss to see you go. Please take the time to reconsider..
+1 I surely don't know you (really, he) well enough, but from what I've seen you are very capable of achieving the goals you set yourself and you do it with competence. The passion that drives you and pushed you to do it could make you retrace your steps, as I hope (for you yourself, not for me). We all have dark moments, and you have to decide for yourself to make them go through. Anyway, I'm sure that money has nothing to do with it, and neither do those who "despise". Hoping to see you around again soon. Take care.
wkeller: I've found your help and your script tools to be invaluable to me, and I'd hate to see you go. I'm sure I speak the same for many others here. Many people here don't appreciate what you've done, and they prefer instead to argue and criticize you. Those are the people that I wouldn't waste my time replying back to because it only encourages them to keep doing it. Frank
Rethink your opinion. If you give in to the negative emotion, you will lose the "battle". Do not leave this forum, your developments are magnificent and the effort you put into explaining and offering your new versions is by no means a waste of time. Understand that this century is a century of ingratitude. Unfortunately. Maybe on the rare occasions when you think you've wasted time and effort, you've actually gained a lot more other users. I second this opinion and hope @wkeller hasn't written his last comment, nor has it been his last visit to this forum.
Its wonderful people like @wkeller as described by others here, that I and surely those who you have never heard of yet, need in the future. I'm on a mission to get Windows 7 on my ASUS Rog Strix G512LV. All the naysayers attack me in other places, asking am I mad, and why would I want to do such a thing given the security risks. The security is only a risk if you are an utter dummy and don't have adequate protections on your system. A combination of your nounce and protection is good enough. Unless your purpose if to trawl horrible porn sites or dubious other places, you aren't so likely to fall in a big hole as some suggest. So people go on to tell me I am an idiot and that what I want is foolish. What can I say to this? All I can say is I don't want Windows 10 or 11 s**t on my laptop. I have work to do and no time to look at fancy attention distracters. It must be awful for people with Attention Deficit disorders. They go to type a letter and end up playing with widgets and trying to arrange screens, finding there is a ton of stuff you cannot turn off or get rid of. At the same time not one of the hateful naysayers has told me a way I can strip down Windows 10 so it just looks and works like Windows 7. I asked. The answers were all along the same lines; Windows 10 is a lot more powerful, or why do you want to do that, Windows 7 is basic. I'll tell you one thing; Windows 7 is a serious OS where you can get work done. I take all my own precautions and that's it. I run Windows 7 on other older hardware. So, we're 3 years past support end date, and I haven't had any issues. Can we loook at this again. I'd really like to be in touch with those who can help me through the hoops to get Windows 7 running on my newish laptop. If you're out there, see this and know where I should go, who I should contact etc, then I would be very grateful. Yes, its true I need to take the lightweigh piece of plastic trash hardware out on the road to use it, and that is the only reason I want to use it. Yes, I get that it is allegedly and good gaming machine. I'm not arguing with you guys that wish to point that out to me. I am probably dinosaur with my X58 triple channel monster 6Kg laptop. Finally, thanks to all who put their valuable time into assisting others. Don't let the naysayers and those who never thank anyone, bring you down. Just stand tall and do what you know will help someone.
If your laptop is newish, its hardware may be too modern to install and run Windows 7 SP1 64-bit. If it is 6th generation or older, its hardware should not present a hardware issue. What is the brand name and model name and model number and serial number/service tag number of your laptop? What is the exact description of the processor in it? Once we have that information, it will be much easier to give you advice. Here is a 4-page thread you might want to browse through. https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-7-on-newer-machines.87469/
Your posts are as valuable as ever. There are people reading your posts and appreciate the efforts (and are glad that somebody could assist) and there are people who don't care and respect the works behind. The thing that has changed is that the latter group of people have become louder. This is a tendency I can observe and has accelerated since COVID. I think it is a general phenomenon and not only related to the MDL forums. But sense and purpose of efforts / posts / work is: There are people which got help by those posts. And those respect that and contribute something in return. This is actually the part of a community which is alive! The other is like a virus, but a virus that has no impact on the value of the posts per se. This virus has an impact on the motivation and fun to post / to contribute! A post / contributions (efforts on those) can be of help for others, but they cannot change people's behavior. I can comprehend that sometimes frustration prevails. And by that a misjudging of value of own contributions. (Check your posts / likes ratio. It is exceptional!) As suggested already. A temp break from the forums is like marvel. I know that from my own. Please reconsider your decision then.
wkeller please stay. Your contributions and hard work are much appreciated here. There will always be those with a negative response. The important thing is that you set out to do something and you succeeded in slim down 10. I and many others had benefited from your work. Go to the countryside and take a good holiday. Come back again refresh. Pls reconsider
After re-considering, I would like to confirm the deletion of my account. I treat my activity here as a closed stage in my life. And no, I do not plan to move to another place with similar theme. We can discuss pros and cons, but my decision is already final and will not change. It is hard but necessary to close something old in order to start something new. And reality is that I have less and less time, and I cannot afford to waste it. So my topics/projects should be treated as closed and abandonware. Of course trolls hastened my decision, but to be honest, I think it was inevitable even without them. I no longer want anybody to think that I am (or could be) still active. Please respect it. Thank You.
We respect your decision wkeller and wish you well. Admin will shortly remove your account. I will close here.
