Hi @xavigon, I wrote a little about this a long time ago here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...ible-alternatives.61061/page-425#post-1389238 Patrik
the reg file zips down to 25mb, before handing it over what personal info is in there and how to easily remove it
i have pinned a shortcut to WMC on the taskbar, on my old SSD "same windows version and 8.8.4 WMC version" when i right clicked on the icon there would be a shortcut to the guide. It is not there on my new SSD, how do i get this back? I have tried with the shortcut pointing to; target C:\Windows\ehome %windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe i use @j.c.f. 's laucher with; C:\launcher\launcher.exe -8,-32,1936,1119 C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe C:\launcher\launcher.exe -8,-32,1936,1119 %windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe and yes it did work with that start in C:\Windows\ehome %windir%\ehome thanks Alan
I finally have the black screen issue fixed on my build. Posting in case anyone else is fighting with this. I am not sure which one of these steps (or combination thereof) resolved it, but I’ve been black screen free for a week now, so I’m calling it fixed. In my case, I was getting multiple back screen with cursor hangs daily requiring a hard reset. Disable App Readiness service Disable fast startup Disable Startup Apps in Task Manager Regarding the startup apps, I disabled everything in the list that was not related to MCE or ISO playback. So at this point I have a finally have a fully functional Win10 build with Ceton cable card encrypted channels working. I’ve not tried extenders yet, so I guess I’ll try that next. Thanks to everyone who worked on getting this project going.
Hi, Thanks a lot ! just installed Windows 10 2004 yesterday and reinstalled WMC 8.4, and everything work fine with your patch
does this need to be done as well? https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...ible-alternatives.61061/page-494#post-1585954
I'm not sure whether @Bigmedion carried out those steps but I don't think it would be working without them. What I am sure of is that he could have saved himself some work by using my fix_mssqllite utility
been ready and waiting to upgrade and test before doing a clean install. I will upgrade, try and report back
upgraded windows to 2004 WMC wouldnt open despite C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome STILL THERE 9 items C:\Windows\ehome STILL THERE 125 items tried a restore from backuprestore WMC didnt work, worth a shot, wonder if using yr WMC_Multi_Tool might have made it work uninstalled 8.8.4 and reinstalled it tried a restore from backuprestore WMC didnt work ran your fix_MSSQLLite.cmd WMC worked deleted settings.reg & settingsbackup dir ran BackupRestoreSettings.cmd uninstalled 8.8.4 reinstalled 8.8.4 restore from new backuprestore WMC worked
Hi, Yes The Media Center works but not very well, I use it with Emby Server, all the movie and film part work fine with The Emby MCE plugin, but the configuration of The Media Library don't work, If you click on settings/multimedia library, for any choice, (music, pictures, videos, recorded TV, movies) I receive the following message: Mumtimedia Library A needed component of Windows Media Center don't start correctly restart Windows Media Center A restart don't change anything somes info: my version of MCE is 8.8.4 and uninstall/reinstall don't chanfe anything things I have made; just what is described in this post, https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...ible-alternatives.61061/page-484#post-1548260 nothing else PS: sorry if some mistake I'm 77 years old and english is not my native language
@Bigmedion, I don't recognise the symptoms you describe as something I've encountered myself. Could it be something to do with the emby plug-in as I don't use that. Have you tried WMC without it instaled?
@Bigmedion I listed everything i did, i will add further information in windows 1909, i did a clean install of 8.8.4 i setup WMC, media libraries, tv setup, guide, everything worked i then did a backup. after upgrading to windows 2004 i ended up doing a clean install of 8.8.4 restored my backup ran fix_MSSQLLite.cmd made a new backup everything worked without the reg entries hope that clarifies things I know i dont use Emby but WMC should work fine
Due to the increasing number of people experiencing issues with WMC because MSSQLLite has been removed in later builds of Windows 10, I have updated my 'One Shot' standalone WMC tool called Roll_Back_DLLs so that, in addition to the previous functions, it reinstates the missing DLLs and registry entries for MSSQLLite. It can be downloaded from my website, which is shown in my signature. WMC Multi Tool is still available for those who prefer to use the 'scalpel rather than a broadsword' approach to getting WMC to work.
This is Awesome technodevotee, I have WMC installed on 19635. Thankyou so much for all your hard work.
I am probably doing something wrong but for the first time I have failed to get WMC to run on a new build of Windows 10. I have just installed 2004 (Build 19041.264) and failed to install WMC successfully using your WMC-V13_X64 files. I was under the impression that this included all the "add-ons" necessary in respect of DLLs etc. Am I wrong in this assumption and I should run the various tools separately? It may be because I am getting an access denied message. Do I need to change permissions for the Program data folder first? Below is my installation report after running _TestRights.cmd successfully. When I use the toolkit to check the DLL versions is see they are still 19041. "Detected Windows build: 19041 Copying files... Creating hard links Setting attributes... Access denied - C:\ProgramData Installing assemblies... Creating services... [SC] CreateService SUCCESS [SC] CreateService SUCCESS [SC] CreateService SUCCESS Updating registry settings... Creating scheduled tasks... Setting access permissions... Enabling the stock MPEG2 Codecs trough the DVD Player app... The DVDplayer app is already installed, skipping installation Done. Press any key to exit."
I don't understand why you are getting Access Denied - I've never seen that error. The only thing I can think of is this: did you wait for Windows to finish installing all the things it likes to install and restart the PC before trying to install WMC? I installed the latest 64 bit version of WMC V13 on 2004 yesterday without any problem. The add-ons are scripts that need to be run after the installation. The function of each script is described in 'known issues.txt'. I didn't build the workarounds into the installer because not everyone needs or wants them.
