the remote isn't a problem at all, just use eventghost and you can configure any remote at your will but the new standards could be a very big problem, depending on the coices of your country. here the test channels broadcasted in hevc (h265) aren't working at all (and for now we are still in dvb-t1)
I was running v8.8.4 on W10 pro 64 2004. I was delighted when I upgraded to 21H2 before Christmas and it survived and worked well.I have just downloaded v8.8.5. A couple of days ago, it stopped recording. I had not unstalled the January patched but have now done so, but they idn't fix it. The antenna is connected to Hauppage card WIN TVHVR 2215 as WMC will show live TV. Scheduled programs show in the guide but don't record. 1. Any ideas? 2. How do I save scheduled recordings? 3. Do I need to update to v8.8.5? 4. If so, how? Best wishes Alexa
I'm surprised that WMC continued to work when you upgraded to 21H2 because recent upgrades usually remove MSSQLLite and WMC won't even start without that. The main difference between 8.8.4 and 8.8.5 is that the latter reinstates MSSQLLite as part of the install. However, if WMC is working at all then you have a different problem, which uninstalling and reinstalling WMC may fix. Or it may not. I gave info about preserving and recovering recording schedule here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...ible-alternatives.61061/page-520#post-1680833
Not personally but there have been several posts on here and TGB recently where updates and upgrades have broken WMC because they keep changing things. Most of the problems I've seen recently seem to have been with older tuners.
I think it is something to do with the functionality of EncDec being moved to MSVidCtl. There may be a couple of improvements in that department in 8.8.5 as well.
Hi Many thanks. I saved the recordings in my v8.8.4 folder, and copied them to my v8.8.5 folder. I uninstalled v8.8.4. I installed v8.8.5. I setup v8.8.5.. I accessed the recordings. I had to then re setup v8.8.5. All is now well.
FYI I upgraded to 21H2, WMC stopped working as usual so uninstalled and reinstalled and issue persists. ServerWMC with Kodi does the job until I do a fresh install, probably for Win11 but not in a hurry.
FWIW, all my HTPCs are on 21H2 and both recording and live TV work fine. Is there a particular error displayed when trying to watch live TV? Do you see anything interesting in the Windows logs?
No, nothing at all. It's like it thinks it plays TV but nothing happens, the program acts normally, I can press record and it will record, go back, no error nowhere.
By "nothing happens", you mean WMC just stays on the blue screen after clicking on the "live TV" button? Have you tried waiting longer to see if an image is finally rendered? Have you upgraded your machine? (e.g by adding more RAM) The symptoms make me think it could be a PlayReady issue. If you don't have DRM-protected content, you can remove the key set to see if it helps. I've used MC for years and have tried to avoid getting into its' bowels (too many projects on then never ending ToDo List!) but have needed up wanting to get an understanding of its' architecture from a building blocks perspective with a view to tapping into its' scheduling etc. Are there any writeups of Media Center's architecture floating around to get me started?
didn't think of that, after 20 seconds it starts playing ! This behavior never happened before, anyway, thanks !
Downlod WMC_Multi_Tool.zip / WMC_Multi_Tool.7z and use the option to reset Reset Security Tokens and playready (8 and 9)
thanks for all your suggestion. I renamed C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\PlayReady to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\PlayReady old and now live TV starts instantly !
So this just plain doesn't work. Anytime I try to setup live tv, I IMMEDIATLY get a message saying no tuners found even though I installed the HD homerun drivers and can watch TV using their app just fine. What am I doing wrong? there doesn't seem to be a workaround for WMC doesn't even bother trying to see your tuners
The hd home run setup has a setting that says if you want to configure it for media center of another application, although I never seen any difference whichever option I picked, but it might be different for you
