Anybody? That update will not start without internet and full format is not a way to fix the issue, just get around it.
I can't disable third party apps updates in Windows update(Like Office) advanced options, I disable it and after a reboot or after searching for updates it keeps enabling automatically
I would right click on taskbar, select task Manager, select startup tab at top, right click on everything in this box and select end task, when done, try to install OS again
I'm facing Windows Update issues since i installed CU. I click "Check for Updates" and it stays there searching with the dots for about 5 or more minutes. In the end it says if there are updates available or not but it takes toooooo long. Any ideas? I already tried the troubleshooter to no success.
Groove Music loads CPU to 50% every time I start it. What is does in the background? Also, it doesn't load artist / album images from the Internet. Pretty discourageous. Does it need to be logged in USA account to make this functional work?
Can anyone tell me the difference between telemetry and those settings we can disable after the install which if activated send data to Microsoft's servers (Location, Diagnostics, etc.), I think? So, after I removed telemetry with MSMG ToolKit I should continue disabling those settings? Also, after I choose my username, password and password hint the setup says "Something went wrong". If I choose the "Ignore" option I can proceed without any problem... How can I remove this annoying blue screen (it's not a BSOD so maybe I should say it's a blue window) saying that my Kaspersky license is almost expired and to renew the license and another that asks me If I want to restart the PC in order to install the Windows Updates? Kon-Boot works after I do a clean install but after I install all the programs I want it stops working and the PC shutdowns itself... This happens since the Anniversary Update. I removed some apps with CCleaner and they still appear in Start Menu if I write their name in it. Also, I removed the Xbox app with it and it still appears in the Start Menu even if I don't write it name (if I write its name it appears also). After I removed the Windows Defender Security Center with MSMG ToolKit the Action Center is reporting some errors.
In startup tab you can only disable programs from running on startup. I did try to get help from microsoft support directly and they even told me do a clean startup here support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows which requires you to disable all services that are not from microsoft and all startup programs. Didn't make any difference whatsoever. I didn't, the only thing I did was setting up a custom theme which changes window tabs colors based on your wallpaper, but as somebody else mentioned, it helped them to revert back to default theme, so I did, no difference. I've downloaded 2 iso's from Microsoft directly, I've created another iso with Media Creation Tool which contains creators update and all of them have failed. I've already ran DISM and SFC several times as well as various windows troubleshooting tools.
Bat.1, do you think that in history of installed updates Creators Update may be listed therefore making system think he already has Creators update installed
It seems that Defender is more strict now for PWP "potentially wanted files", so I was just checking did they made any changes for registry (like there was enabling PUP scanning a year ago), then I found this one: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Advanced Threat Protection - anyone has experience about it ?
The only way is to do an upgrade from RS1 to RS2. Make sure all your drivers all installed and then do the upgrade. I am not sure whether the latest hotfix updates fixed the start menu issue, but you can try to clean install RS2 and then apply the update to see if it works.
I just tried to update to RS2 from RS1 that was fully updated as of today. I used a verified MS ISO of Win10_1703_English_x64.iso that I checked the hash before I started. I mounted the ISO in explorer and ran setup to do the upgrade. Here's what happened after "upgrading" to 1703: The start menu worked but I couldn't open the settings app, it just opened a window saying "explorer.exe Class Not Registered". Search from taskbar wouldn't work. Right click on taskbar button wouldn't work. Right click on taskbar pinned apps didn't work although I could pin and unpin them from within the start menu. I couldn't connect to wifi unless I went to the lock screen and connect from there. I quickly realized my system was borked so I first tried running the command prompt and running "start ms-settings" from there and got "explorer.exe Class Not Registered" again so the settings app was completely dead. So then I went back to the start menu and held the shift key as I clicked restart which allowed me to "restore previous version" and now everything is working perfectly again now that I'm back to RS1 14393.1066. The only tweaks I've used on this machine was a select few registry tweaks in Winaero Tweaker, but with every registry tweak available in ShutUp 10 except "deferred updates" (in other words, the only tweak I didn't use was to defer updates). Also, I've not butchered or removed anything from Windows. Strictly registry tweaks only (I did have the windows update service disabled though, which I know wasn't the problem). I have had no problem with those same tweaks ever since RS1 was released including every update since then, well, up until RS2. So I'm going to have to do a complete backup and clean install. I've used those same tweaks on all my machines, so I'll have to do a clean install on all of my machines. I am a sad panda. Needless to say, I won't be upgrading to RS2 until I have several free days to spare. This is not how I wanted to spend days of free time. So you're probably thinking, "install it again but this time tell it to remove apps but keep files." No, because there's little difference between that and just doing a full backup and clean install, and I know for sure a̶ ̶c̶l̶e̶a̶n̶ ̶i̶n̶s̶t̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶w̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶k̶ this release is not stable yet. I will wait at least 3 months before I try this again. This is bulls**t.
@pf100 well I understand your point clearly so myself to avoid this issues my only solution was fresh install (after make job with MSMG Toolkit of course)and making the same tweaks used on version 14393 I make this in daybreak and until now none issues all working fine one curious fact I want install NETFX3 using DVD and dism and all ok; and 1 hour ago I open wumpt and tool show one "update" Feature ondemand dotnet35 for Windows 10 version 1703 for x64 based systems in sequence wumt show another update KB4015583 CU Windows 10 for systems x64 both downloaded and installed without issues til now I'm very happy with this build see my boot take only 2 seconds
I ran a Win10 build 14393 update to build 15063 off a DVD on test rig 1 w/ a new MB that I previously removed the Creative sound card as it was old & decided to just use the onboard sound. The update went smooth but every time I restarted the PC or shut-down & start I would get a "P17Run.dll" error & after some research I found that it's a Creative sound error. I uninstalled all the Creative apps (3) & restarted but still - NO JOY Then I started getting another "Audio Control Panel" error so I just used the Win10 restore & chose to "Go Back to a Previous Version of Windows", this worked great & was very fast. So Now I don't plan on updating that rigs Win10 OS to build 15063 again. attached 1st popup after every restart
I had Bitdefender Internet Security, but I dont have it since few days as per Microsoft instructions. Didn't make any difference. I tried it, it just says Windows 10 installation has failed. I tried that multiple times with 2-3 isos. :/ Microsoft tech support told me to format my PC or restore it to default settings which will uninstall all installed programmes, but keep my files, so basically, format. I never thought I'd live to this day to see Microsoft Tech Support being so unexperienced that I propably know more than them...
