Well, I already have that iso on a flash drive ready to go, but the update procedure isn't clear to me.

There's a list of .msu and .cab files and a link to a MS LCU page. Then there's W10UI, that supposedly "installs/integrates" the updates. Does that mean "integrating" as in slipstreaming them into the iso? Because the animated .gif shows running the .cmd in a folder with 4 other files. I assume those are downloaded updates, but it's not clear to me how to just get those from the MS page.

Sorry if this seems dense, but I need to connect these things specifically step by step.

    ------------------

AndyMutz: That's great to know about it working on the B860M. Mine should be OK with LTSC then.

you have to follow this very simple instructions, W10UI, will handle everything for you and will create an ISO too (which you will use and the updated ISO to make a fresh installation or an in-place update to your system..

I think I've got most of it now. The confusion was from my unfamiliarity with the format of the info in the OP. In that post, I didn't know that I needed to match the specific files under "code" with the ones in the "updates needed" x64 list -- or that all of those files were in separate locations/links. At first I had thought that an "LCU" would have included everything and would have been at the MS LCU link. It's also confusing because the version "LCU_5737.1.12.msu" does not match up with the download file name.

I'm still not sure if I should include kb5054978 now because it says "only needed when KB5011048 is installed." Does that mean KB5011048 should be installed first and then the other later, or can both be included in a single install? Also, there doesn't seem to be a link for kb5011064

But I now have the LCU .msu and 5 of the .cab files downloaded to go into the folder with W10UI.cmd, so I'm guessing that should be sufficient for an update without problems.

Let me know if I'm still wrong about any of this I can't implement it until I get the PC built but would like to be ready for it.

When you see links, then you need them for downloading the linked updates.

When you have installed NDP481 base, tben you need the NDP481 update to update it.

From the list in the overview (only present because another user didn't know what updates from the linked updates they needed) you need these update for updating a (IoT) Enterprise 2021 LTSC ISO:

    Code:
defender-dism-x64_steven4554_April_04_2024.cab <--- advised but not really needed
    windows10.0-kb5007401-x64_Critical_DU_for_NET35.cab
    windows10.0-kb5011048-x64_NDP481_Base_9166.1.cab
windows10.0-kb5011064-x64_NL_NDP481_XX_LP_10.0.1.8028.cab <=== the LP for your language
    windows10.0-kb5056474-x64_DU_Sources_5723.cab
    windows10.0-kb5055674-x64_DU_SafeOS_5728.1.4.cab
    Windows10.0-KB5054978-x64-NDP481_CU_9300.1.cab
    windows10.0-kb5055518-x64_LCU_5737.1.12.msu

The list is for people who use the NDP481 base cab.

Example of the most current session i ran:
    https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1875489

Video's are present in the Updates Overview.

OK, so an initial install of KB5011048 with the others, then add kb5054978 later.

My intent is install LTSC 2021, then convert to IoT with a command I found in one of your posts a couple of years ago, so it looks like the listed files apply to my situation.

Just to be sure, none of these are "feature" updates or change compatiibility with programs do they? I run a lot of old software and like to customize the Windows interface extensively and wouldn't want to break their compatibility.

W10UI will integrate them all in the correct order, just put all updates next to the script.
    Yep: "slmgr -ipk <IoTEnterpriseS_KEY>"
The updates are not the same as microsoft likes to call full build upgrades feature updates too.

Any user customizing will most likely the biggest chance to cause problems, not the updates.

Great, one run of the script makes it easier. I'm only apprehensive about updates because of all the complaints I've read from from people who've said they were constantly breaking programs like Open Shell, but I don't think they were on LTSC. As a longtime Win 7 user I even had the same problem years ago when an update broke Photoshop CS2. I don't think they ever fixed it, you just had to remove the update manually and never add it again if you wanted to use that version.

It's more that software like open shell needs to update to keep up not the other way around... ;)

I don't think that either, because I use Open-Shell on all my Windows 10 systems and I cannot recall having a single issue with it throughout the years.

    From update preview thread
You have insufficient privileges to reply here

    Can you fix
    I did finish iso .

    19045.5796 ?

(IoT) Enterprise 2021 LTSC is and will always be 19044
The screenshot of the servicing webpage is pretty clear about 2021 LTSC, it mentions 21H2 and 19044.5737.

Created iso results in 19044.5796 with overview updates.
Why windows online updater stays at 19044.5737 as latest update. When not integrating needed updates from overview

    Can someone elaborate

Because MSFT stopped 2021 LTSC from being offered Preview/optional/third week/c/non-security updates on WU for a year or 2 now.

    Thanks

Which of them is better 5737 or 5796

    Any links of :

1- Which way you recommend to optimize the ISO ( remove telemetry . disable auto updates , Iso size, remove explorer )
2- How often have we to rebuild iso again ( or is it ok to enable online updates after first Build? )

In general the lastest will be the best, it contains all previous fixes and such.

Compress install.wim to install.esd and it shaves approx 30-33% off.
    https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/win-iso-wim-esd-swm-handling-tool.78925/
Whatever you prefer, i personally prefer to create a new uptodate ISO for new installs.
