LTSC installed for several months, waaaaaay better than the previous LTSB, which only lasted 3 weeks on my box before i headed back to Windows 7 This one is a keeper...havent had a single issue with it The only niggle is the same as on all Windows 10 editions, the damn DPI settings and trying to get everything looking right is pain in the ass...
Ah yes feature updates... or as I like to call them "we f**ked up your system again" updates. I don't mind spending a day setting up my computer exactly the way I want it. But not EVERY SIX MONTHS. Those new icons aren't that good.
I'm pretty happy with LTSC 2019 as far as Windows 10 goes. It runs well. I have my complaints, but would apply to all the more recent editions of win10. It does have some niceties that are really handy. There's nothing I've been unable to configure through various low level methods. Still having a little trouble using an MSMG Tookit modified iso, couple odd issues, so for now I'm just disabling everything I don't want instead of removing it. Oh yes and that bi-annual version release thing is torturous, bad enough for users, probably horror for developers. Hence the reason I'm using LTSC.
Sometimes, when I am bored, I re-install Windows. It takes about 1½ hours (I am guessing here.) Everything is back the way I like it.
There was a time i reinstalled windows daily, only took me 10min on my main system, default install (only some cosmetic tweaks by MRP), most stable ever
That's exactly why you should image and install from it. I have win10 with Full Adobe suite, Corel Draw, Autocad, Office, Winrar, Winzip plus other Utilities like VLC and all into an Install image. Installation would take 10-15 mins on SSD and about 20-35 mins on HDD but the post installation/configuration to be done manually is reduced to 30mins to 1 hour depending on factor if any data needs to be restored. (Outllook accounts / PST, etc.)
Yeah it's setting up the programs that takes time. Some of it I can do from saved registry snippets, but some I do the old fashioned way. With my new machine having an NVMe drive and SuperSpeed USB stick, unattended installs take three minutes, I timed it. Fastest install for Windows yet. I used to be able to kick windows install times in the ass with Linux and then FreeBSD (also unattended), but now Windows LTSC is actually faster, never thought that would happen.
If you don't mind the possibility that the key could get blocked at any time because it's probably stolen, sure, go ahead.
I've no doubt that this has been covered somewhere in the past 156 pages, so I'll just apologize in advance. I installed ltsc as soon as it became available. System says 2018. Just installed it on my son's, says 2019.b Seems a bit different too. Can someone please fill me in...??? Thanks.
I'm not really clear on all this activation business. All I know is I add the generic key to my unattend script, it installs, than I add the KMS solution and it activates. I don't know, haven't tried it with no key data, probably won't because it's not worth my trouble to find out if it works or not without it.
So I just want to thank everyone for answering all my 999 questions and concerns, but as you probably know I want to be sure with my OS. I'm going with LTSC 2019 for now. But I'm wondering why many people are debating over LTSB 2016 and LTSC 2019. Which one is better? Why do some of you guys choose 2016 over 2019?
I choose it cos its more flexible to be tamed making it less bloat is much easier and more stable and 2019 doesn't have much to offer feature wise for me, just more complexity metro structure
I've been using LTSB/C 2016 on a Laptop and Desktop since it was released and I like it.. I have had no issues with it so far and have installed it on Friends & Family PC's to replace whatever OS was previously installed... Recently, I installed LTSC 2019 using VMware and have tested and compared it with LTSB/C 2016 and don't see any obvious advantages except that the Driver Store no doubt has Updated Driver support for hardware released since 2016... I waited untl recently to test LTSC 2019 hoping that most of the BUGS have been sorted out by M$... I am still a Windows 7 Pro-x64 fan and use MRP, Open-Shell and Winaero Tweaker to help achieve that Windows 7 Look & Feel on both LTSB/C's... For me, APPS & BLOATware belong on Smart Phones & Tablets, not PC's... Please share you thoughts if you have used BOTH OS's and prefer one over the other...
No. LTSB 2016 if you want a finished OS, LTSC 2018 if you want black themed explorer, cortana not even completely removed, xbox things++,flux included, link your phone, contacts, bloatware.
