Stuff that I hear from users...

I came accross someone who is looking for a new email client and does not like thunderbird or office's outlook, so I suggested he should have a look at mail (the built in app of w10). And he claims that mail is not actually... mail but outlook and free (= a free version of outlook), unlike the one that comes with office, which is paid. Is that true?

Answering to myself, because what he said probably belongs to the jokes section of the forum.

Searching on google for "outlook free" returns a couple of valid results (invalid, or garbage as I name them are the ones that come from pages like uptodown, softonic etc). The top 3 are microsoft's page for their email service (outlook.live.com), microsoft's page for office 365 and microsoft's outlook app in the play store. And since that outlook app in the play store is free and the one that comes with windows is also free, the one in windows is OBVIOUSLY that "free version of outlook", aka "outlook free"!!!

If anyone wants to copy it to the jokes section, feel free to do so.

I'm really picky AF with my email clients. I don't like the online version of Outlook, it's ad-infested and I have issues with my SMTP email servers.

I really preferred Windows Live Mail and before that Outlook Express. The actual Outlook email client within Microsoft Office is really a resource hog and slow.

I was using Thunderbird for a while, and then I switched over to eM Client. I've been using it for a few years' no. It's not perfect, but better that the other options.

You can use software like Windows Update MiniTool.
