KB4023057 again. Patch installed, uninstalled from Control Panel still showing as installed under WUMT. Removed Software Distribution database, logs, download folder. Checked registry and file system comparing with an existing installation and found few leftover bits from the uninstallation: - empty folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Update Health Tools - registry entry for a service uhssvc pointing to the folder above, which means not going anywhere - registry entry under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders\C:\Program Files\Microsoft Update Health Tools\ with value 1 - shared? Deleted all those entries and folder, WUMT still shows the KB as installed. Does anyone know what else needs to be removed for this update not to show as installed?
At the OP I link to a post by @LostED https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...2-21h1-vb_release.80763/page-115#post-1595870 does this have your iso?
Code: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Update\TargetingInfo\DynamicInstalled\SedimentPack.amd64 you could download unifiedinstaller.exe and updhealthtools.cab (don't extract it) from uup dump then run Code: unifiedinstaller.exe /x
@abbodi1406 Thanks, you are a goldmine of information. I found in that registry area other stuff in which I was interested like Defender and MRT. I need to look further though, although I am getting close to the the solution. I am running unifiedinstaller.exe /x either as Administrator or under TrustedInstaller from NSudo and I am getting: I run 19043.1052 and I used the 19041 version from uupdump which should be unique anyway. I tried earlier before posting to run the msi inside the cab directly but it did not work. Code: D:\Virtual Machines\KB4023057 (19041.1078)>unifiedinstaller.exe /x Starting the payload installer Extraction folder C:\WINDOWS\TEMP Folder of execution: D:\Virtual Machines\KB4023057 (19041.1078) Designated cab path: D:\Virtual Machines\KB4023057 (19041.1078)\UpdHealthTools.cab Attempting to extract D:\Virtual Machines\KB4023057 (19041.1078)\UpdHealthTools.cab to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP Completed extracting cab D:\Virtual Machines\KB4023057 (19041.1078)\UpdHealthTools.cab to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP Payload file C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\UpdHealthTools.msi Retrieved file version info from D:\Virtual Machines\KB4023057 (19041.1078)\unifiedinstaller.exe: 10 0 19041 1078 Device architecture amd64 Targeted version 10.0.19041.1078 Set file version of C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\UpdHealthTools.msi to value Version as data 10.0.19041.1078 in registry key SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Update\TargetingInfo\DynamicInstalled\SedimentPack.amd64 Performing uninstall Error install msi C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\UpdHealthTools.msi error = 1 Finished running the payload installer The registry key is not removed. EDIT: Renaming the registry key mentioned by you removes the installed status from wumt. EDIT2: It is a dodgy installer apparently. If I install (without /x) and uninstall, it completes correctly, but still sets the registry key SedimentPack.amd64 This needs to be removed manually apparently. EDIT3 (final): Got to the bottom of it. Code: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Update\TargetingInfo\DynamicInstalled\SedimentPack.amd64 Version needs to be edited to 0.0.0.0 - compared this with another installation where KB4023057 has never been installed. So to make it clear for reference: - Run unifiedinstaller.exe /x (or remove from Control Panel) - Remove the orphaned folders and registry entries left behind as per my OP - Edit the registry value Version as above
ok fresh installed 19043.1081 pro x64 from uup anyone know why there is two Microsoft edge shortcuts on desktop
both same target "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" start in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application" why in x86 folder is it x64?
