    I took ownership of MsMpEng.exe and NisSrv.exe in c:\program files\windows defender\ and denied the read&execute permission for everyone. After restart it is not running anymore. (Service control manager is complaining in the event log that it failed to start windows defender antivirus service, but I can live with that)

    What I understand is this: they want to collect more data and telemetry of the operation and reliability of the Start menu with that feature disabled to compare them with the data and telemetry that they obtain when that feature is enabled, it's logical that, when making a change like that in the navigation panel, problems may arise that make the Start menu less reliable when that feature is enabled, as I said, that's what I understand based on previous responses from various members of the insider team, I don't know if I'm wrong.
