Yes, I just verified, KB5004554 is indeed the problem. I just integrated it into winre.wim alone with no other updates in the install.wim, boot.wim or winre.wim aside from this update and it gave this same error screen.
Haven't they been dishing out updates on Thursdays or something recently? I don't think these Insider builds follow the standard patch Tuesday rules.
Multiple sources on Twitter claimed this one would come out on August 10. Or at least that is/was the plan... Sources being AdGuard and Another one I can't remember.
For members having problems using Nordvpn on win 10 fast insider and win 11 have found a fix until Nordvpn sort this Lynx problem, anyway works on my computer:- Just go to settings and select "Choose a vpn protocol and server automatically" to OFF....then for "VPN protocol" choose openvpn (tcp)
@abbodi1406 found a way to get internal updates from the UUP system but since a month or so there are no more links available so he stopped publishing them (only pages of people nagging about it) and the russians found the corpnet stuff too and now they publish the build numbers without links, and now some feel the need and cling on to those tweets for some weird reason, most are inaccurate too.
I ended up with making a new 22000.120 build without the offending update using W10UI 10.6. Then performed an in-place upgrade. This fixed my recovery but now I had 2 recovery partitions. Then I used EaseUS Partition Master 16 to get rid of the redundant recovery and merge/resize my C drive. Quite easy and useful for those who want to get rid of the recovery problem... like now !
You can try running "reagentc /disable" and then "reagentc /enable" That might jog the efi into compliance after swapping the winre.wim file with one that works.
It's not that they don't notice the kind of feedback that they get. It's that it doesn't matter to what they are going to do in the grand scheme of things. I often compare things to video games because I've been a gamer for a really long time. For a long time people would complain about the state of video games coming out. They were boring and derivative. The characters were becoming ugly and politically motivated. The games were buggy and broken upon release. Gamers complained up a storm, yet despite all this they still sold a lot of copies. So what kind of message does this send the company? It sends the message that they can do whatever they want. They can appeal to whomever they want. They can put whatever content they want in their games knowing it will upset the fans and the fans will still buy it. If people really do have such problems with Win11 and they still upgrade to Win11 anyway, it sends the exact same message that MS can do whatever it wants. However, if there is very slow adoption and people keep telling MS why they refuse to use the OS, then there could be some changes a year down the line for their 1-year refresh. I really expect MS to stick to their guns at least for this October release. There really isn't enough time to make drastic changes to their design philosophy.
