Do I go with W11-Retail or W11-LTSC? Tried both on W10, still unsure

    Basically:
    • As the thread said, I used W10-retail for years, and W10-LTSC for years.
    • I'm still unsure.
    • LTSC has its quirks too. Some things dont work. I had some Windows-Store issues despite installing it manually. Aditionally, some games didnt run. But im unable to say if LTSC was the culprit.

    Some info about me:

    - I hate random apps like Teams or some silly game apps or other bloat that i will never use, though these can be uninstalled with debloaters and such.
    - I hate spying and telemetry, though debloaters can help here again.
    - My pc is high end.
    - I use my pc mostly for development/programming, and for gaming.
    - Im a rather advanced pc user but my knowledge regarding windows choice is poor.

    And here's are my questions:
    • Wouldnt they essentially be the same thing if we use debloaters and apps like OOSU10(works on 11) and so on?
    • The way i see it, biggest benefit of LTSC is less bloat, but there are some very good debloaters anyways.

Windows 11 LTSC all the way, I will never use or succumb to a regular Windows release as long as I live ever again.

I absolutely hate everything AI related and the way Microsoft is going with things with newer releases forcing AI and MS accounts I see no other reason.

I'm the sysadmin and the one in charge of my computers, NOT Microsoft. I really hope this AI bubble will burst soon or things can get back to how they used to be but I'm not feeling hopeful about it.

Everything every day just seems to get worse and worse, talk about dystopian.

They are aggravating me in Windows 11 Pro, every time I login, they've installed a crappy new game and of course they put it in the "Recommended" section of the Start Menu.

I'm going with either IoT LTSC or regular Enterprise from now on.

    Sir, the answer is no.

In my opinion, debloaters do more harm than good.

It's better to use the official LTSC.

That nuance was there at first but disappeared after all the mentioned things happened, after years of harrassment and attacking people tend to harden up to it and it is not really an opinion, it is a fact, at the start people claiming they made the best windows ever even asked me to test it, when the first test already failed it was pretty clear to anwyone with a normal functioning brain that chopping CAN and will lead to future problems.

But if a moderator doesn't understand this working, how can we expect others to do.

Reminder, you were that person who seems who's not able to properly read when i explicitly used the term IMHO, remember?

Well, first, we are human (last time I checked at least), we make errors. Lots of errors. Being a Mod (I was asked, I did not apply), I also make the same amount of errors, I wasn't given any device that makes me infallible (or it did not arrive yet). Yes, sometimes it's late. Yes, sometimes I have run out of coffee. Yes, I tend to overlook things.
The problem is not what you say (that's 99% correct), it's how you say it. It's very easy to set you off and make you angry, and the trolls know that. No surprise that many dramas involve yourself, as you are targeted for exact that reason, they get a kick out of that.

As far as I am concerned, please be aware that, as an autistic person, I can interpret your intentions even less, as far as intentions and feelings can transmitted over text anyway. I'm simply unable to process subtleties, or need longer for that. So, just don't expect a reply as you would from a normal person. In closing, I am not, and was never, angry at you, neither I'm a troll. I can make the impression sometimes, because of the problems mentioned prior.

There's a nice saying: We are Mods, not gods. We make errors, and continue to learn new aspects every day. I don't expect anyone to look up to me (or any other Mod/Admin), I just expect them to look up the rules and follow them.

Well, I think this is a great opportunity to fix or improve some past problems, or at least try to make things better.

First, greetings to you. I wanted to write a private message to you, but also I didn't want to bother about "dramas" (as you said). Some months ago, it was a strong discussion in the Chatbox, because I wrote my opinion about the danger of the Artificial Intelligence and how it will destroy the civilization. But, two members (Skunk1966 and nodnar) insulted me in dutch language saying that "I need some pills". For that reason, chillgates and I replied to them and start a discussion.

My problem was with those two members, but sadly chillgates wrote about Enthousiast, and I gave some opinions about him. Unfortunately, he misinterpreted it, saying that "they (chillgates and I) talked about me for two hours", which was completely false.

The worst part, is that CaptainKirk1966 banned me from Chatbox in a very unfair manner. While the two members who insulted me never received a warning. Even, they called me "racist", because I complained about using dutch language to insult people.

Don't worry, I think you do a great job here, even Enthousiast does good test and brings help to people. Maybe he could improve his way of writing, because sometimes it seems like what he said is "the best" or something similar.

Anyway, sorry about this long post, and the offtopic. I hope all of you are fine, and thank you for your contributions.

Well, on topic: It's recommended to install Windows 10/11 Non-LTSC ("Normal"), because it has Apps that maybe could be useful in a situation when you don't have your main apps. For example, in Win LTSC, it doesn't have the Snipping Tool (so Win+Shift+S works but don't do anything), or if you want to see some photos, take some notes, listen to some music, use a Stopwatch/Timer, test your Webcam. I know Windows UWP apps are not the best, but they would be useful in a specific moment. It's better to have it and not need it.

It's worth learning to DIY this process.

What I mean by "trolls" are members who wrote very nasty things in the past, they are banned for that behavior. Many of these were before my green time.
Note that a temp chat ban is usually less for punishment but for disrupting the debate that's out of control, letting the steam out, so to speak. Personally, I don't like public chats, heated arguments arise more often in a realtime discussion, whereas in the forum, in most cases, there is normally the "Hold on, should I really write this?" thought before pressing Reply. Public chats tend to be a nightmare to moderate at times. Our chat here also does not save a lot of history, it can happen that we have to act on what we see now and don't know the whole story before.
I'm sure this chat must have support for "Rooms", as I can click besides my name and select "Leave Room". Would love to see our Dutch friends have a chat room where they can chat in Dutch (not directly public), and anyone not speaking Dutch just stays out. Maybe the same for other guys. I want to stress again that the "English-only" rule only applies to the public stuff anyone can read (and could possible take offense).

I will now stop it. Enough off-topic for this thread. Now, BTT.

Same, I formatted both my main gaming PC and personal laptop with Win11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 and I was the one choosing what to install or not from there, NOT Microsoft forcing it down my throat.

I also "debloated" IoT LTSC even further using trusted tools like Chris Titus winutil and O&O ShutUp 10. Everything is stable and even better after. :)

From there I'll upgrade again only with another/newer IoT LTSC build and only if it's really necessary (e.g. some apps/games I need losing compatibility) otherwise MS can screw themselves.

11 Retail: If you don't know what to remove or how it's not-included on LTSC, you can figure it out on Retail while having the newer base/kernel improvements

25H2 could still use Local accounts from OOBE, and AI components can be disabled with a group policy setting or GUI-removed. MS isn't imposing things too-hard yet :p
