The problem with LTSB is it does not follow all the settings and group policies you set, someone did a network analysis of LTSB when idling with all telemetry supposedly off and it still phoned home to Microsoft. Seeing an option in LTSB to turn something off is not good enough, it does not listen to options. LTSB is a lost cause, you cant trust it. Does Server 2016 have this same problem?
My OS is not in English. Can't find the setting. It shouldn't matter because I have turned off Windows Update service completly?
It's in gpedit.msc, just search for it under filter options. Any proof of this? I remember someone did an analysis of regular enterprise a while back where they claimed nothing worked, but it turned out that they didn't configure it correctly
Somewhat off topic, but related to Server 2016. Can you disable automatic driver updates? I don't mind automatic windows updates, but not for my drivers.
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update --> Do not include drivers with Windows Update <- Enabled. (Google Translated)
Windows Server 2016 is now official released. Who has studied spying activity of it? Worth installing???
I find it truly amazing that so many self-proclaimed intelligent people by into the spying crap. I would have thought that this idea of spying would be confined to the computer illiterate.
I find it truly amazing that so many self-proclaimed intelligent people simply ignore the ramifications of the spying crap which does exist.
On reddit there are people saying Windows Server 2016 does not call home. But I want a second opinion from pros in this forum. Has anyone done wireshark on Server 2016? Do the same anti telemetry steps need to be done for Server 2016 to make it safe? Does installing the Desktop Experience on Server 2016 make it less private? Does O&O Shut Up work for Server 2016 or will it make settings worse unintentionally? I need details people.
Why no Windows Server 2016 Telemetry Privacy guide? A few telemetry disabling and privacy guides are around for Windows 10. Someone please make one for Windows Server 2016. I have no clue how to make it safe to use.
