MSFT officially offered it for free for exactly one year, but the upgrade from a (DAZ) activated win 7 SP1 still works, but msft considers it to be not legit anymore.

    Why all this debate
The man asks a simple question
    And he answered you
Yes, Windows 10 is downloaded without paying any money
    windows insider
And be among those who are done as the experiments field
In any case, Microsoft knows everything about you
If the copy is purchased or not

alternatively you could just put a generic key and the REARM it indefinately... windows 10 has 1001 rearms... you need 1 every 180 days... that's enough for 68 years ;)

Windows 10 comes with notification mode instead of a grace period, rearm will not activate it.

    1. You should have downloaded an ISO directly from Microsoft or made one via UUP dump.
    2. Links to and discussion of HWID activation methods other than official upgrade paths are not allowed on MDL. You should probably remove it.

@TJa : You were happy with DAZ loader activated Win 7. Then your answer is Above!

    1. Just check whether you can manage Win 7 installation on the new MoBo with the help
    There

    2. Activate it with DAZ loader.

    3. Perform in-place upgrade from win 7 to win 10 or use this shortcut method.

Sorry, It should be easier with win 8.1 pro as there!

( Just check whether you can manage installing Win 8.1 pro on the newer MoBo.)

    or follow there!

    Thanks. ...

There may be a VERY recent change, but the working process for getting free windows 10 was, until very recently at least.

    1) bios mod your pc if possible.
    2) install windows 7 ultimate (why use an inferior version?).
    3) install daz loader. if there's a valid bios, it will instead install the proper SLP key.
    4) download windows 10.
    5) install it inside windows 7 as an upgrade. Optionally, chose to "keep nothing" This would give you free genuine windows 10 pro.

MS claims to have changed something, and they may have finally actually stopped the free upgrades. i do not have a handy pc to test this with at the moment.

Step 1 is not needed for getting a free HWID, DAZ loader activated with its bootloader is enough (the slic inside the bios is only needed for use on UEFI installs for DAZ loader to be able to work.

    Free HWID is still available.

it's easier to use daz loader to put in the keys. :) that's also why i said "if possible". that's why i list both.

and free hwid may someday be detected. but if the upgrade from 7 works, it gives you an untouched activated windows 10 system.
