    Hello.

    As we all know, after the end of support for Windows 10 we have 3 options to continue safely use our PCs:
    1. LTSC 2019 (2029), 2021 (2027);
    2. LTSC 2021 IOT (2032);
    3. Wait for LTSC Win 11, if they remove hardware requirements, which can break updates in future.

    I would like to know from the public which choice is preferable.

    Also, i would like to know if there is a significant difference in using LTSC and LTSC Iot.
    Interested in the licensing issue of iot version. Can we buy it for home PC?

    Aside that the disgusting win 11 works pretty well even on XP era machines from 2006 or so (provided they are upgraded with enough RAM and a SSD), as a rule of thumb, use w8/w81/LTSB2015/2016 if your machine is from the first decade of the millennium, use LTSB2016 or LTSC 2021 or (server 2022) if your machine is newer.

    Can be a good idea to use a 32 bit OS (even if you have more than 4GB (use PAEpatch3)) unless you really need a 64bit OS (eg. you need VMware newer than v10 or Hyper-V, or WSL)

    ASUS laptop bought from 2015 (almost nearly decade) -> LTSC 2021.
    Upgraded my boot drive to SSD + 4GB RAM - optical drive (because I need to access my old files on my laptop)

    Totally I'm crying how the heck Windows 10 and all my programs open faster vs. HDD.

    Win 11 has tanked my (not-so-old) laptop's performance to unusable levels.
    Things like right-clicking on the Desktop or Alt-Tabbing is something like 5 times quicker on a Win 8 VM than on the host 11.

    So yeah definitely not 11, LTSC or not.

    If you want the chilling experience of running W11 w/o having to deal with all the cruft that come with it, use W11 Server not the bloated client.

    The basic OS is not that slower than w10 LTSx, especially if you disable Hyper-V from the bootloader.

    That said Win8.0 is probably the lightest and fastest Windows 6+ ever, so comparing anything with it is an easy win for Win8. Even a fully updated XP is likely slower than Win8 (but it consumes less RAM).

    Still upset about that?
    Server IP LTSC Builds
    It's sticky, should be enough for those who think they can handle your use of timebombed Insider Preview recommendations.

    Wrong choices aren't like wines, that get better over time, usually something which is debatable in 2020 is still debatable in 2022 or 2024.

    That said upset is a bit exaggerate word

    You seem to be a bit hung up about it.

    You can link to it, the OP has all important information, nobody cared about IP server builds before i started to maintain a comprehensive thread with a frequently updated OP with all info and SVF(SFX) repos for all of them.

    There is nothing to debate, if i didn't do it there was no info for you to whine about.

    I'm just... surprised.

    I ask myself how a person who is super skilled in retrieving and collecting links, often adding a long string of useful or less useful infos about them, decided to use a different metric for that very specific thread.

    Not sure you realized that you have likely some thousands of started threads, and I criticized just ONE
