Alternative (MDL supported): Download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO and drop it on the Simplix Updatepack, or use this tool (fastest) or use abbodi's WHD & Updater script. PS, install.esd is not supported by win 7 setup, needs win 8+ setup. And reducing size with hard methods never will be advised here.
i'd just using my Windows 7 archives and still need learn more about Simplix Updatepack, but i'l try abbodi's WHD & Updater script, sorry about reducing size with hard methods. thanks for your advised
Dism++ will quasi do a Resetbase for Win7. It's very old and no longer updated that I know of, but I still use cleanup from it after installing the monthly updates for Win7
as far i remember, i'd already tried it and still NTLite more better for cleanup thanks i'll try again on the next updates...
"Resetbase" for Win7:https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-7-component-store-cleanup-tool-rebase.73817/
Hello, I've encountered a difficult problem. After offline integration of the SP1 patch (KB976932) into a Windows 7 RTM image, a blank page appears when I open OptionalFeature.exe. The Windows Feature page also displays blank when I use NTLite and Dism++ to view it. Do you know how to resolve this issue? This problem has plagued me for a long time, and I can only use the SP1 ISO to integrate the patch or install the SP1 patch in audit mode and then run Sysprep to capture the image.
Hi, how do you integrate the SP1 patch (KB976932)? did you do it manually using Dism or other tools such as RT7-Lite, W7ESUi, WHD-W7UI, NTLite, Dism++, Wintoolkit, etc.?
I found it helpful to install Win 7 using Win 10 set-up media, but not essential. So I'm curious what benefits you've found by doing so? Have you found it easier to set-up a dual-boot system this way?
The benefit to using newer windows' setup media is in the quote - compress install.wim down to install.esd to make the image smaller. You don't even have to use the whole media. I used a windows 8.1 iso and only grabbed sources folder from boot.wim index 2(also replaced *img.dll files and background.bmp with ones from win7), setup.exe from iso\sources folder and inserted ei.cfg with Code: [Channel] NoKeyChannel Now, I did it the complete amateur way - open boot.wim with 7zip, replace the index 2\sources folder, replace the dll and bmp files in it. That way boot.wim file grows 30-40MB in size, which can probably be avoided by doing all this with dism/wimlib like a normal person. Still, I managed to make a windows 7 x64 aio(homeb, homep, pro, ult, ent) iso which is about 3.85GB in size. x86 aio with starter is about 3.20GB.
hey nice job! maybe you can help with these updates problem -> https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...win7-distribution.45005/page-261#post-1897722
