-Clean install of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 + Microsoft Office 2016 -Activation with KMS -Renaming PC (by default Windows 10 names it DESKTOP-*something*, I always rename to *username*-PC) -Going to "Personalize" options to make "My Computer" and "Control Panel" appear on the desktop -Installing newest drivers for my hardware -Windows Update -Disabling everything in "Privacy" tab in the "Settings" app -Using WPD for further privacy tweaks (i prefer it than Spybot Anti-Beacon and other similar tools) -Using Winaero Tweaker to replace "toast" notifications with classical "balloon" notifications known from Windows 7 + disabling Action Center (smartphonish/tabletish right sided bar) and few other tweaks -Configuring Folder Options to show hidden Folders and Files & show file extensions -Disabling UAC prompts in Account settings -Enabling Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (Professional) with registry tweak -Using registry tweak for mouse acceleration fix (it's broken since Windows Vista) -Installing "All in One Runtimes" (contains .NET Framework, Visual C++ Runtimes, Adobe Flash Player, Microsoft Silverlight, Shockwave Player, Java Runtime Environment, Visual J-Sharp) -Installing newest version of StartIsBack++ to bring back Windows 7-style Start Menu (i prefer it than ClassicShell personally) + OldNewExplorer to make explorer look like in Windows 7 -Installing third party software that i use I hope i didn't miss anything That's my typical "ritual" related to Windows 10 installation, i will probably do the same with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2018 and Microsoft Office 2019 when they will be released.
@Phoenix I tried #2 post on this thread and it worked for me plus I added tiny firewall to the mix and that setup works for me perfectly thanks
Privacy, settings, etc. are one thing but did anyone actually benchmark or profile any of those light or optimized setups?
i just install some specific drivers which provided by WU are not functional, then personalize things including power settings, privacy n all. Reinstall chrome, keepass2, zemana and other stuff. Rest i touch nothing (not even win defender) and windows works flawlessly.
I have just started to use PatchMyPC, you can set what software you want to be auto-installed after install, you will just run it and it will download and install all supported software.
Firstly, I install Windows 10 from a USB 3.0 with the network cable unplugged (important). Then I run one script that activates and unbloates Windows 10 and all its known telemetry. It sets rules, energy power plans, disables services, registry fixes, you name it. Result: ultra mega super responsive system. Finally, I use WUMT+pf100's WUMT wrapper script to search for updates. I'm aware of which kb patches to permanently hide. After the updates have finished on reboot, I rerun the script so to overwrite any settings that microballs silently reverted during the patch. When Installing softwares, I always have a backup of all old client settings and installers.
