Just wasted space if you have the ISO handy and you are aware that a PC isn't a stupid iPhone. Wrong. People who remove the crappy SW don't want to be used by them How we would call them? People with more exigent taste than sheep who accept everything as is? Yes skilled people are able to write simple (or not so simple) scripts, is that a crime? That's a false assumption. Windows update may break things, obviously, but hardly because the above. If it breaks something, usually it's because an MS mistake.
Hi T-S! This Edge shortcut seems awfully attached to this database. Even removing all links to it in DefaultLayouts.xml from default user, doesn't help when creating a new user account. It's still there. EFA11 literally ripped the guts out of Winblows, trying to remove all traces of it, to no avail. So I guess this is the only viable solution if you now really must get rid of it. Personally I don't mind the shortcut, It was just a challenge to get rid of it cleanly without screwing with Winblows to much. I'm a classic shell guy myself
I personally don't care about the edge shortcut, but sometimes removing a square app leaves orphaned links, that looks a long guid strings. And that is inherited by CS, under the app submenu.
Yes, but in this case Edge hasn't been removed, only the shortcut to it. So orphans shouldn't be an issue. Performing open heart surgery to remove a pimple is obviously not recommended, nor is it any smart. For me it was just the challenge I wish somebody, some day, could create a tool where one can edit this database in a nice gui app. That would put an end to this madness.
ok that does it. Very nice Dobbelina, and not something too difficult for most users. I like that there is NOTHING pinned to the right either lol Thank you, thats 1 you 0 MS GG
Hi EFA11! Ya, added bonus is you get rid of the ad-junk as well. And even easier, Here's how you can do it without creating an Admin account, just run this script and TileDataLayer folder gets renamed instantly! Copy & Paste the following in a textfile and save as "Tilegone.cmd", run as Admin: Code: @net.exe session >nul 2>&1 @if ErrorLevel 1 (echo "Run as Administrator" & pause && exit) sc stop tiledatamodelsvc move /y %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\OLD_TileDataLayer
