While this issue is being investigated to fully understand the way it works; we try to emulate a company setup, i.e., using familiar Volume releases that are activated by external KMS servers. However, I have installed a Retail release which is converted to Volume, it gave me trouble in the beginning, but I managed to easily sort it. During my quest to sort out issues, I stumbled across problems that took me quite some time, one of which was having an Office installation with two (LTR and RTL) language interfaces. I believe that what man can create; man can fix. Anyway, try changing what can be changed, one thing at a time and restarting Office twice before confirming results. Try changing channel, using a newer release of your KMS tool or even change it to see if it makes a difference. In theory, it should not, but I have been long enough in this field to know not to dismiss any possibility, because "What can go wrong will go wrong!". I have also noticed that there are three Licenses circulating for Office ProPlus 2021. I don't prefer internal (within Windows) KMS, because in the past Microsoft was able to detect it and disable it, sometimes with bad consequences. I prefer to have a KMS server on a Virtual Machine laying somewhere on the network and accessible (occasionally). Of course, you are probably already fed up. Some people may think we are rushing to help to show off. But we already know one way of sorting your issue. In fact, everyone is anxious to know why your installation has been giving trouble and wish to keep you going (before you format) so that we may learn from your experience. Good luck.
OK. Go figure. I started Word today and the banner was gone. Good news! Somewhere along the way, tho, it changed from Word 2019 to Word 365. And under Account it shows Product Activated followed by "Microsoft Office Mondo 2016". Does that make sense? Did I somehow enable the wrong update channel? My Word 2019 was showing a Version Number 2105.xxxxxx
Try use OfficeRTool and install Office 2021 (newest after 2019). https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...install-activation.62571/page-14#post-1125229
Out of my misery for who knows how long It's also not clear I have Office Pro. So, do I dare tempt fate and try to get back to Office 2019 somehow? One thing I noticed is that while Visio comes up OK, Project brings up a msg. that states: "We noticed you just updated your license. Please reboot Project for the changes to take effect." if I click OK the window goes away and it all seems normal. However, if I restart Project, the same window pops up again. I remember seeing that before but it's been quite a while.
The version is the same, so there is no problem with that. KMS activation is already available without pre-registering Preview. Officially, it is not there, but in fact it has already been released. Use OfficeRTool to perform the required actions.
Just noticed something curious this morning. I was looking at Control Panel/Programs and Features and what's listed as being installed is Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019, Version 16.0.13901.20516. Does that make sense given what actually shows up when I run an app like Word or Excel (Both are Office 365, Version 2103.13901.20516)?
Yes, office build has to be above 140xx.xxxxx to qualify for 2021. Try office update File --> Account --> Update Option --> Update Now Latest current build 14026.20246 version 2105.
UPDATE to the UPDATE Completed the update. Version went to 2105 and the license issue banner is back. Obviously something in the 2105 update. Bah, humbug. Time to backtrack to a working version...arrrrrrghhhhh! UPDATE (6/3/21 @ 5:01PM): Decided to try and do another "Repair" on Office and Visio and Project. After the repair I ran Word and it showed Office 2019 ProPlus again, activation remained intact and no banners or Windows about license "issues". Project and Visio both gagged when I tried to (re)activate, but then I ran them and they showed they were activated. Project still wants me to do an app restart because of a detected license change, but I can ignore that and it works just fine. The version remained at 2103.....but discovered the 2105 version was for retail (thought I had converted to volume). I change the channel to "Current" and it now seem to be updating, to 2104 or, maybe, 2105. Let's hope I didn't "screw the pooch" by being so eager to get the latest update installed I am now back to where I was before the licensing stuff started. Thx for all the help and support..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just did that (in Word) and it tells me I have the latest version. Seems like I may somehow got onto the wrong channel? Before my Office "converted" to Microsoft 365 versions of the apps were 2105.
Sorry if this has been addressed before: Say, I install Office 365 Enterprise but exclude a program(like PowerPoint) then activate it using KMS_VL_ALL; if I later decide to install the excluded program will it be activated automatically? if not, what steps do I have to take to activate that program as well?
