Post #6 - Current Version List shows: "Monthly Channel" version is: 16.0.8431.2107 This is what O2016RTool get's offered by MS-Office content delivery servers as latest "Monthly" version. But the update servers config seems to be not uptodate. I tested the following: - used (U) CHANGE OFFICE UPDATE-PATH (SWITCH DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL) in O2016RTool. - Selected "Monthly channel": Possible Office 2016 Update-Channel ID VALUES: 1 = Monthly_Channel (Retail/RTM) - Entered "1" und allowed changes. This sets correct configuration values and starts update. After installation has finished, I looked in O2016RTool at (A) SHOW CURRENT ACTIVATION STATUS. Source Distribution channel, activation info and version/build-no are shown. But the prior installed Monthly-build 16.0.8431.2107 was now downgraded to 16.0.8431.2046. We already experienced such missbehaviour of the update servers. I suggest to test during the next days. I will do the same. Update will work, when the servers are properly configured/synchronized. Results (10/12/2017): Just finished some tests.... Insider Channel (Insider FAST) and Semi-Annual Channel (Business) are working OK. New Install version/build-numbers and Update version/build-numbers are equal. Now look here: Same build (New Install .2107). Update (downgrade) is identical, but other build (.2046). Coincidence? Maybe. At least it looks strange... Code: New Install: Update ( = Downgrade ): Monthly / Current Channel (Retail/RTM): 16.0.6431.2107 16.0.6431.2046 Semi-Annual Channel Targeted (Business Insider): 16.0.6431.2107 16.0.6431.2046 Monthly Channel Targeted (Insider SLOW): 16.0.8528.2136 16.0.8528.2126 Results (10/13/2017): New Install 16.0.8528.2137 available for Monthly Channel Targeted (Insider Slow). Releases .2126/.2136/.2137 in very short time scales. But Update is still on .2126. Monthly Channel and Semi-Annual Channel Targeted: Update still delivers .2046. Sigh.... MS really needs more manpower for just in time configuring their update servers.
Just for sh*ts and giggles, I switched channels to Insider Fast. Downloaded and changed channels no problem with the correct version installed. Then I switched back to Monthly/Retail. Downloaded and channel changed. Back to 2046.
It is a little more 'complicated' than I thought . There are 2 versions in one : O2016RTool always reports the same build-number in functions: (A) SHOW CURRENT ACTIVATION STATUS and (U) CHANGE OFFICE UPDATE-PATH (SWITCH DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL) as listed in "About" window and this is wrong in all these cases! For example: Installed "Monthly" version is NOT .2046 as shown above in "About", but .2107 OK Microsoft, you didn't change version info in "About". I will see, how I to deal with this.... In the meantime: If someone is worried about the version, look Control Panel - Programs and Features.
A new O2016RTool version (2017/October/14) was released today Error correction: Changed source for retrieving Office version/build-number. O2016RTool will now show correct version of installed Office. This will clear the missleading info reported in above posts. No other changes were made. Download-links and checksums in OP were updated.
16.0.8625.2055 version is detected but when i try download the build it says http 404 error not found. Is it just my internet problem ? I am using office internet now Edit: Fast channel not working (404 error) but monthly-targeted-channel is working
I downloaded it, but for some reason it does not work. Must be a server problem. A file is missing error appears.
Insider Channel ( = Insider FAST) still has errors (404 file not found) on version 16.0.8625.2055. If you update an installed Insider FAST version using internal Office update, you get 16.0.8530.1000 (?) I couldn't believe it, but Control Panel - Programs and Features and function (A) in O2016RTool show this older version. Monthly Channel Targeted ( = Insider SLOW) detected 16.0.8625.2055, too. 1.) test: Fresh download, install and 2.) test: internal Office update. Both succeeded. Still investigating, what's going on here...
Not sure if this connects with the last message, or whether this is just me, but I'm seeing something unusual: On Insider 8613, checking for updates within Office does not show anything new despite 8625 being released yesterday (according to MS). O2016RTool shows what I think is correct, but perhaps something has just been flipped on the server side due to the dropping of the word "Fast"? That is, the server no longer thinks I'm on Insider?
Microsoft corrected their faults on InsiderFast content delivery servers! Download of 16.0.8625.2055 using O2016RTool is possible as usual. Wished, they invest more effort in quality assurance. I should send them a bill about my time searching for errors in O2016RTool which don't exist.
Just tested. No problems here. Download from "Monthly (Retail)" channel succeeded. "ERROR 403: Forbidden" is either send from Microsoft server or from your proxy/firewall. 58.51.150.145 is not a Microsoft Server IP, but: Code: inetnum: 58.48.0.0 - 58.55.255.255 netname: CHINANET-HB descr: CHINANET Hubei province network descr: China Telecom I'm sure, the access is restricted by your provider. A VPN-connection should circumvent this.
Am looking for old version of Office Deployment Tool Current version on Microsoft site is officedeploymenttool_8529.3600 and it can't convert Volume version of Office (ProPlusVolume) to App-V format. Saying Invalid product ProPlusVolume specified) It allows to download CABs, but fails to convert them. I hope that an older version would be able to convert it, so hope someone has old ODT. Update: Thanks, found an old one.
Sorry, I didn't get what you mean. "dropped" = "released, dropped in" ? -> Use this thread for announcements! "dropped" = "will not install, get dropped" ? -> To avoid "wild guessing", your problem report (if it should be any) must contain more info than 3 short words.
Hello. Thanks for the tool. Just for sure, if I convert C2R to VL, is there any risk that it will go "back to retail" with updates? Also is there any options to switch to VL channel in downloader? There is no option, but in post with version you have it... Thank you
KMS-activation was created by MS to help business companies to mass activate their Windows and Office licenses. To make KMS work, you need a Volume license capable product. You can either use native Volume license Office or you can "enhance" a Click2Run (C2R) Office by adding Volume license certificate files. But it will always remain a Click2Run version. It can't be changed into a native Volume (MSI) version. "Enhancement" (= Retail2VL conversion) can be done by O2016RTool or you take automated conversion script by abbodi1406. Compared to Click2Run Office, native Volume Office is a complete different product. Volume is -featurewise- far behind Click2Run and has only one distribution channel. Click2Run Office is distributed on 5 public channels: - Insider FAST (Insider Channel) - Insider SLOW (Monthly Channel Targeted) - Retail/OEM (Monthly Channel) - Business (Semi-Annual Channel) - Business Insider (Semi-Annual Channel Targeted) O2016RTool can change Office distribution channel. But only from the 5 Click2Run channels above. It can't change C2R to native VL. Insider "FAST" has the most and newest features and more than 2 updates/month (and therefore bugs could occur). C2R "Business Channel" is meant for production use and is updated twice a year. But C2R "Business" is not the same as "Volume". Hope this will help distinguishing between "Volume" Office and "Click"Run" Office and what O2016RTool can do.
