How to update only Windows Defender malware definitions on a PC with disabled Windows Update via O&O ShutUp10?
You really should use Sledgehammer, it installs a special task taking care of Defender updates while still having the WU service disabled.
After running it multiple times all I get is this: Code: Unable to retrieve MS-DEFCON rating from askwoody.com Disabling update hijackers... Creating tasks... Disabling windows Update Service... Windows 10 updates disabled. Close window (click "X") if done, or press a key to check for updates... Is it because of O&O ShutUp10? Firewall settings?
Powershell grabs the MS-DEFCON rating and I don't know why you can't get it but it really doesn't matter since you don't care about that anyway. If you just close that window and leave it alone it'll update defender every 6 hours. You can check the task at, task scheduler library > microsoft > sledgehammer > WDU task. ShutUp10 can't stop the task from working.
