I used a mini usb ch341a in windows instead of the raspberry pi. They make it so much easier to flash with than a raspberry pi but that's my opinion. I also don't have a lot of experience with linux either.

I'll give this a try (preferably not having to unsolder the BIOS chip),

HP Elitebook 8570w, laptop with expired warranty from former employee has BIOS locked, cannot boot from DVD to re-install/re-image laptop,
    • SKU #: C5K05UC#ABA
    • Serial #: 5CB318037F
    • UUID: 28CA40A62DB4E211BF0318B35C0000B3
Currently only Bootable option is Network Boot, HDD, USB, DVD are all not allowed
Fingers crossed - Thanks for your help!

    Hey Mazzif,

After a lengthy hiatus, I was finally able to get back to this. After following your guide, I was successful in clearing the BIOS password on an HP 8570.
I just wanted to thank you for not only discovering this solution, but also for sharing this. I found it to be a great learning experience.

I am curious about something though. Having all F's in the UUID seems to result in a new UUID being generated. I took a picture of the System Information (F1) prior to flashing the BIOS. Is there anything wrong with using WinDMIFit to re-enter the original UUID?

Along the same lines, what is the reasoning for leaving all O's in the System Board CT field, instead of re-entering the original number?

    Thanks again

Hi. My problem is not bios password. But is on the serial number. Would like to find out method to change my serial for HP Elitebook Folio 9470m. Using dmifit can't. Wndmifit showing as mpm locked.

Is there anything wrong with using WinDMIFit to re-enter the original UUID? : Nope, but it might generate a new one anyway. Give it a shot

Along the same lines, what is the reasoning for leaving all O's in the System Board CT field, instead of re-entering the original number?: Simplicity for those with less technical skill sets. Feel free to reprogram original values.

If you have the programmer hardware/software you can reflash the BIOS with your bin file that contains your SN.

    Hi

Inside EliteBook Revolve 810 G2, next to SSD, there's a chip marked BIOS2. If it's a dual BIOS board which one to reflash?

    Hi all,
I got an HP 640 G1 BIOS L77 Ver. 01.32 which also has a BIOS administrator password set with limited boot device options. After testing the HPBR from HDD and reading Mazzifs post about **70 series and everyhting with a Gx is no longer supported came here and read through this thread. Since I have a Raspberry PI 3 available all I need to get is the right clips to attach to the BIOS chips to read out the file. I already took a screenshot about the necessary SKU, serial, UUID
