Yes i'm already using donovan6000 mod, but i'm not sure which one (the one from bios-mods or the other from osx86). But this is not what im talking about, im talking about that microcode, is it already updated in the bios file from your link or do I need to make some modifications and tweaks the bios in your link. And thank you.
Hi I was just wondering if it was possible to enable "disable CPU fan check" or the likes in this mod? I can't recalled how I managed to fix this in the past. I currently have this mod installed but am not sure if you know of one more suitable.
Hi thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have no intention to replace the fan/heatsink/thermal paste any more as I have already done as the internal fan really struggled to cool the laptop with b grade gaming and didnt last longer than 6 months. It could never keep it under 90 degrees but I'm managing to do all that now just fine with a external fan and cooling pad. My only issue is the annoying bios warning which I've managed to disable before but cant recall which. Hope you can assist. Edit:spelling
Sorry, I'm not sure how you disabled that warning/shutdown. Just as a reference point, my dv6-6113cl (Intel i3-2310m with Intel HD Graphics 3000) idles around 40C and with high CPU usage was around 60C. I lowered the temp thresholds to turn on the fan sooner than the BIOS defaults. IMHO, the heatsink design is not adequate to cool such a low-end CPU.
Ah sorry I'll elaborate. Previously I had the 90b error disabled by disabling the system/cpu fan check in bios. I'm not sure which version it was but it was unlocked from advanced settings. Possibly think I might of upgrade F.1B to a F.1C or D mod but I cant recall.
The BIOS mods I posted are only applicable if your laptop had the SP55068 update...otherwise it is not compatible. FWIW, HP has such bad product naming since they have many different models with the DV6 and DV7 branding...
I'll have to dig out my old HP laptop and see how I flashed it last time. Give me a few days to get this info to you. (after Halloween) Off the top of my head, I seem to recall having to rename the HP_TOOLS partition off my hard drive so it wasn't detected anymore...but I could be wrong.
