Have just cleared the BIOS password on several HP laptops (8560p, 2540p and 2560p) using RUFUS to create the bootable USB. Downloaded HPBR.rar from the link in post #823 and unzipped to a folder on my desktop. Ran Rufus and where "Create a bootable disk using" appears, clicked on FreeDOS and selected "DDimage". Clicked on box to the right of this, and navigated to the "HPBR-WIN32 file from the extracted .rar file. Clicked on "Start" and all done. I'm now trying to work out how to create a bootable SATA hard drive which incorporates the image file as I have another 8560p which has USB boot disabled in the BIOS. Any suggestions?
no, does not boot to HDD, optical drive or USB-Drive. HP cant solve the problem because date/time is not correct and there is no chance to fix that. I orderd a used mobo from ebay and now the laptop is up and running W10 ;-)
Was some time ago i ran the program on my 6360b and i think it wasn't on supported list but i ran it anyway but now i got missing serial etc because the writeback function failed i guess.. was wondering if/how i could write back serials to get rid of that annoying missing details boot screen.
Use the system and choose the option to Reprogram. Use the details from the bottom of the laptop for SKU, Serial etc.
Hi all, I just registered to the forum. I spent quite a long time searching the web and studying some documents trying to understand how to reset the BIOS password for a HP elitebook 820 G3 I bought second hand. I discovered only later that the BIOS was locked by a password and realized it is impossible to reset the bios password unless you call HP to get a unique smc.bin file or replace the BIOS chip. I am moving on this last solution and I ordered the BIOS chip that is a winbond 25Q128FV. Before doing that I am kindly asking you any advice about this procedure. The vendor told me the chip is loaded with latest firmware and nothing more than replace the chip is required. I want to be sure this is correct and I will note face any other problem. It appears to me that the chip could be missing the basic info about the laptop...am I correct. What should I do in this case? Is there any other software procedure?
hello, I have the problem that on My HP Elite 6930p with all descriped ways of using Your tool I get this output: bios not supported?! But there are a lot of people that could unlock there 6930p. I tried to make a Bios update but with the official tools of HP there is the output: bios locked - no update of bios possible? Somebody has an idea or solution? On Notebooks with dead bios I could use Wincrisis to rewrite bios. Is it maybe possible to bring a new bios version with WinCrisis (or other programms) to my Notebook?
