Query Tool v53.2 has been uploaded, 2nd post has been updated with new link, hash info and password. Spoiler: Reason for upload Ok there was a bug (not in the QT for a change), but in the example script about InSpectre.exe's command line result codes! Have sorted it out and also extended the results shown in the saved report if either Meltdown or Spectre checks shows up as not protected/present. Some of the results may be a bit cryptic but i have copied the text as it is shown. example: CPU does not support low-overhead Meltdown protection -- see post below, thanks Carlos for explaining it better than i can. Others should be self explanatory. Bumped to v53.2 as it contains 53.0 and 53.1's code changes. I apologize again for uploading yet another, but it is for a very good reason!
The sentence about low-overhead Meltdown protection means the system does not support PCID optimization and thus the Meltdown fix (which never needs a hardware/firmware patch) comes with a huge performance cost. Usually that's systems older than Skylake. The only vulnerability that does require a Microcode or BIOS/UEFI update is Spectre variant #2.
The latest QT upload now has the correct text showing if things are not present or are present. I had the flags set correctly but the wrong wording to go with it.
MRP 87.0 is at T3 stage... Once RS4 is finalized and the build/UBR is sorted then MRP87 will be adjusted to show the correct 'Baseline' or RTM as it used to be called. Then it will be released as the code is about completed, just a few little tweaks left to be done. Nope Wintel.cmd not have that reg edit, I don't think it ever had The updated Wintel has some extra Windows 10 service removal stuff towards the bottom it is bypassed by default as they can affect certain apps, like xbox. It should not affect the Store.
Some results on my laptop are incorrect... OS Architecture - 32 Bit -----------should be 64 bit Boot Drive Information - Partition: MBR, -----------should be GPT
I have addressed the x64/x86 issue, it is to do with how %Processor_Architecture% is returned under the compilation. The MBR/GPT is a bit more complex, it's to do with the returned results in the OS's native language. WMIC returns in the OS language which is giving me some grief... Code: wmic partition where (bootable='TRUE' and name like '%%0,%%') get type /value should return (in English), GPT or Installable File System. However i am guessing that GPT is not in English... So after much nosing about on M$ website for WMIC, i think the change to: Code: wmic /locale:ms_409 partition where (bootable='TRUE' and name like '%%0,%%') get type /value *Should* force a value in English.... If someone on a non english OS can copy/paste the above two lines in the [ code ] tags in to a command window and post the results that would help a lot. Thanks
Code: wmic partition where (bootable='TRUE' and name like '%%0,%%') get type /value give me Code: Type=GPT: System and Code: wmic /locale:ms_409 partition where (bootable='TRUE' and name like '%%0,%%') get type /value give me the same value Code: Type=GPT: System I'm on Windows 7 PL Code: MRP - OEM Query Tool v53.2 Enhanced -- 04/02/2018 {UTC} -- 7:13pm [Saved Report] =======================================[ Basic OEM Information For This Computer ]======================================= OS Version {Registry} - Windows 7 Home Premium - Service Pack 1 OS Version {SKU} - Home Premium {3} OS Edition {Registry} - HomePremium {3} OS Edition {CBS} - HomePremium OS Architecture - 64 Bit OS Build Number - 7601 OS Installation Type - Client OS Language Name/Code - pl-PL / Dec:1045 {Hex:415} OS Locale - pl-PL OS Language Value - PLK OS Installation Date - 2017-10-01 16:13:03 {Localized Date Format} CPU Name - Intel{R} Core{TM} i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz CPU Description - Intel64 Family 6 Model 60 Stepping 3 CPU Architecture - 32/64 Bit CPU ID Code - [BFEBFBFF000306C3] CPU Cores/Threads/CPUs - [4] / [8] / [1] Meltdown/Spectre Results - This device is not vulnerable to either Meltdown or Spectre. @mad_max Thanks it must be the odd language that trips up the results.... Have adjusted code to hopefully obtain the values in English. Will upload a RC QT 54.0 shortly... At least the locale parameter not cause the WMIC to fail A few other bits been done to the QT for better results in other areas.
yeah i think it is those languages which are tripping up the WMIC results. Hopefully that locale bit will attempt to return standard English results that can be parsed. I know DISM can have the /English parameter to obtain the right results... Wmic is a bit more fiddly lol
Click Here for QT54.0 RC1 (Test) Fingers crossed this sorts out the incorrect results for GPT/MBR etc.
Thanks for testing on Win7, i just realised that i not tested it on that os as i wasnt sure if the wmic /locale bit would work, managed to get a w7 vm fired up and checked, and saw you had posted your w7 results. The Via AR x is so that i can see which of the 3 routines was picked for the 32/64 bit as under the compilation method it was picking up x86 by mistake. So there is now 3 stabs at getting the architecture right.
