Hello my dear friend, I'am so interested by your tool If one day is possible to use in command line with the manufacturer auto detection that would be really cool
Sadly i may not be the one to implement that command line method as i will soon be letting someone else run with this tool's script, it not perfect by any means but it does have potential with time and effort. But if no takers to continue with it then i will keep working on it but at a slower process for a while due to other commitments. v2.0 when i split it into a x86 and x64 versions not made much difference and the image glitch was nothing to do with the tool, a non compliant converted png > bmp image that the OS not like and refused to use it. For v2.2, (which i am working on at moment), is a single exe, (saves confusion with 2) , i have added a note on the logo requester title that some converted images may not work. Vista/2008 sadly cannot be added because the OS Kernel has a few quirks which would take ages to get around and as there are other tools about that will work on those it saves me time. If i am carrying on with this tool i will see about command line parameters but that will be a while yet, need to be happy with the rest of the code first.
@l30 It certainly makes a difference! I know some files may not compress more and may expand a bit when inside the main OEM's.7z but it should make a smaller file overall
Hmm on French OS's the QT seems to get a bit confused with a few info bits, nothing major and purely cosmetic. The QT does not use 'Unicode' like MRP does because it caused quite a lot of items to either be corrupted or was incorrect spelling on some non Latin Languages.
I think its a good start, the difference might seem small on small scale but when all of the OEMS will be compressed the Ultimate result or difference will be huge. I will work on this project so we could pack it much smaller and tighter
Just on a break as at my other job being a technician for nhs/oet exams. Happy this exam stuff is twice a month as it so intensive, pleased im not doing the exam itself!!
The only down side is that the Wallpaper.jpg file sizes needs to be below 253 KiB, (Size on disk), or Windows 7/Vista kernels will ignore the file and throw up an error. So i always make sure that the Wallpaper.jpg is below that 253 KiB value to make it compatible with all Windows OS's. You may of noticed i had adjusted some in the last OEM's set. When the time comes that 7 is no longer going to be supported and the project becomes 8.x/10 only then that restriction can be ignored as the newer OS's can handle wallpaper.jpg images greater than 253 KiB. That is only applicable to wallpaper.jpg as that the file setup uses, wallpaper2 etc can be more but needs to be less than 2 MiB or it can cause delays on first boot up after setup complete - this is as the OS needs to 'transcode' the wallpaper.jpg for later use.
its just the wallpaper.jpg (no numbers added) that can be a bit fussy on 7/vista - seems silly as other files are 'scaled' yet this one file is not, only later when 'transcoded' after installation There again it is m$ who are masters in half-arse things
CustomTheme Brand Option : Disabled - Brand was detected, but had missing/incorrect named file{s} within. Error Code: UBM That's why the custom theme not work, a file was changed/removed from within the brand's folder that you selected. As for the 'pending' start menu apps - they should not download or install. However if they do it may be a change in the OS again.
Advertising blocks may require updating of MRP code but as the code base is complete for November's release and i have limited time at the moment, it not be done this time round. Plus will need to see what changes have occurred in 20h2 before i can do any code updates. Mainly new apps or games m$ may of attempted to sneak in. I know if you use the MRP Slim start menu, (which clears all items from the large side), nothing ever gets downloaded for those apps/games links.
As i am not at home at this time, until tomorrow morning, i'am not be able to do anything with the updated brand files, however any done before this Tuesday will most likely be added into the Nov's MRP as i am hoping to get this MRP v131 released by then
