Now the sad... Due to the place i work at shutting down, i will be loosing my job of 16 years at the end of the month. So after this month, updates may be a bit sparse for a while, due to changes in finances which may have to include the loss of internet for a while.
Sorry for your loss of job and internet service too, really sad thing. Hope you find a job pretty soon and get back online to us...
I still got 'net until 19th January. So if anything new to be updated i should be able to get it uploaded by then. Even if i have to nip to my friends down road to use his internet lol. It mainly Feb on wards that may be the on/off net period but i will still be working on MRP so it not abandoned, just maybe on hold for a short while.
I know its sometimes difficult to see the positive things in life at times like this, but things will start looking up soon my friend.
yeah Alpha, not first time been finished at xmas time, 17yrs ago i turned up for a shift 2 days before xmas and was told the company (security) i worked for had left and i was not being employed by the new firm! Something will come along, surely with 36yrs+ experience in computers someone somewhere wants a tech guy lol. Age may be a slight barrier but either way i'm going to try and enjoy the holiday period. Might even buy one of those ball protectors lol, been kicked there a few times over the years lmao. Well i not lost my twisted sense of humour - yet
ok back on topic... Having looked at Server branding, the problem i foresee is that Server Editions have the Desktop Experience not loaded/installed by default. I guess the only way would be to somehow have your server's install.wim/esd edited to have this feature switched on using DISM prior to installing the OS? Then MRP should be able to brand the PC the same way as OEM/Retail - as long as the SKU names are present in the MRP database. Not having any server iso's of any kind, i cannot test this theory. If anyone has any Server edition's and could let me know the SKU names, i could make a beta decompile.exe to test. The SKU's i have managed to find are: Win8/7/Vista: ServerStandard, ServerDatacenter, ServerStorageStandard, ServerEnterprise. Not 100% sure if they are the proper names and not just named as Standard, DataCenter etc. I know Server is not a standard users OS because of the extra complexities of the OS, but it would be nice to have them branded, looks prettier than the boring grey 'theme' they have, more so if you are using it as a Workstation OS.
You will notice even with desktop experience enabled you will find it is more difficult to brand all server editions. I tried this in the past and it was a PITA. Not all editions will brand correctly. Not saying it cant be done but would take a lot of scripting and still have unforeseen bugs. If you need me, pm. Sorry to hear about your job. You will find something else I am sure. Keep the faith.
Might give Server a miss for now, just accommodating all the sku's is going to be a huge amount of extra scripting which will slow down the processing. The main thing is LTSB is covered along with Enterprise S/SN plus N/K/KN/E editions with 'don't use the wrong key' flags. MRP was designed for OEM/Retail which it covers very well, Server is a niche area especially as a workstation OS. I won't rule it out as a 'special' add-on at some point in the future. Re work, hopefully a new position will come along, i wont give in lightly.
sorry about ur job hope u find somethings else about server branding the pronlem is on some version if i remember server 2012 is one of them enable desktop exp is necessary if we want to successed on branding stuff what i had : -server 2003r2 -server 2008 -server 2008r2 -server 2012 -server 2012r2 -server 2016
Silent Project Update! Just uploaded a silent update Version: 161212-R34-BaseLine [MRP/MDL] Added MSI-PC to database to cover newer MSI motherboards. The Log text output now has all the changes, I had uploaded wrong revision before that had only partial changes to the text, oops. Nothing else has changed only the above two items.
