Wow!! Now I wonder how confident we should be on A/V performance. They are crap and getting worse as days go by.
Thanks Baltagy...I will add it tonight and upload just for you. lol Got to cook dinner first though. Note to all about AV's....its part of the game. End users must learn now days to use the AV and create exceptions if you know something is safe. I would rather use WinRAR personally so no change in this area for the future. I don't like 7zip myself. Until the algo is removed it will always show as something in AV's....before that was added results from AV's were 0/56. If you want decryption of key then this is part of it. Talking from my background which some of you know, I am use to AV's not liking some things I create but since I am the creator, I know for a fact they are false positives.
Baltagy, can you test this updated query tool v4.6 to see if BioStar is selected for theme applied. Post results.txt so I can make sure. Thank you in advance. edited: removed link.
I use your project in my work, when i found the BioStar not found today i wanted to help but the owner of this computer took it, i only have "Gigabyte, HP, Asus, DELL" now
Ok, I understand. I added the needed info into the ini file for the query tool and the ini file for the main project. Will do image resizing after dinner. Check back later on or tomorrow for updated links. I don't have VMware bios mod for BioStar so will have to wait for feedback...if not working someone will let me know. lol
I use your project daily anything i find i will let you know, i hope i can help, you doing a great job here keep it up, really thank you And also i added AutoKMS and loader by daz to your project to activate win7/win8.1 i share it to help people if you mind i will not share it again
If we had a Universal OEM pack... Could we conceivably make One OEM Pack that implemented all the branding across all the Operating systems supported?
All ready is if you completely read the first post. Vista - Win10 (all supported OS's from M$). With the added Biostar branding being added soon there will be 120 brands in the project. @skolar, I know WinRAR isn't liked by some low end AV's but those AV's are not any good anyways. I am not concerned with 3 or 4 out of 56. That's only 7% that show false positives...I am ok with those results personally. Plus you will just be trying to update the query tool to adjust for AV updates in the future. Its open source and if ppl want to know what is in it, they can look. It is safe and does no harm. Now if the results from virustotal goes up to 20% or higher then maybe a concern, until then why start the cat and mouse game? AV's are constantly updating and WinRAR for some reason is on some of their lists...why? Who knows other then where the app comes from if you ask me. It does nothing different then 7zip, winzip and others. To me its discrimination. WinRAR is a very good app and it is updated often compaired to others like 7zip. Just my opinion and we all know what they say about opinions. lol If you really are concerned you can use 7zip yourself...I have no objections but I will continue to use WinRAR for that is my personal preference. @Baltagy I will finish doing the images tomorrow...wife wants some quality time.
No worries, I know all the results are false positives. I use WinRAR & 7z for different purposes and find both to have pros and cons. Wishing you continued good fortune with the project.
Ok Sounds good guardian... I'm having trouble finding the download link for the project as I want to take a look at it. In regards to Universal Compatiblity I've been working on a way to do a Powershell Setup complete.
I'll be entirely honest I can do this scripting better in Powershell. The flexibility that is in the PS scripting is much better than CMD. We can use the WMI to get everything and set the variables to make this much easier. If we put it in a stand alone we can make it even more modular as well. The only issue would be how long it would take to convert .
Ah, powershell is not included auto in vista or win 7 so that is why powershell was never used. I know powershell as well but since it isn't native to vista and win7, no since in using it. Also some WMI commands are not available in every OS. See this has been the problem...what works on one OS does not work the same in another OS....you will find this out as you go along. I have a friend who can write all of this in C+ thus making this a closed source. I am really considering this and I will tell you why. It would reduce size, make it just one exe to run, plus make it AV compatible, C+ is native to all OS's, etc. The downfall for lack of a better word would be no one will be able to edit it anymore.....maybe that would be a good thing since it is somewhat complete now. The funny thing to me is since most issues have been resolved now everyone wants to re-write it and start over. Reminds me of the Never Ending Story. lol @searchengine, I am sorry brother for now I understand why some things were closed source.
@The Guardian I have already found that out and solved that problem. Just because it does not work doesn't mean you can't find a solution to make it work. I did the pack in cmd line first now its done in power shell. I'm still testing it out to see what compatibility issues may occur however that being said the only issue would be with Windows XP which the OEM concept doesn't work on anyway lol
Well I guess I will back down from this project now. Since I did all the hard work of trying to make it open source and others just want to take it over, I humbly release myself from it. I will remove my links so you can share yours. Tito hides the main download link so you will have to get in touch with him in order to change the first post download link and still keep it hidden. Vacation time.
