Hi, sorry that I may be a noob here, but I have a question.

Does this project activate Windows genuinely on the oem of choice? Or is it just the theme(s) that are downloaded?

That seems to be the answer, but then I am confused to the OOBE mode and what not. Does that mean I need Windows 7 already installed to apply the OEM on this project? Thanks for anyone who helps! :)

Also if this does activate windows, will it activate a trial version?

Activation is one essential part of the tool, branding (themes and Co) is another. OP perfectly describes what to do. There is a check tool to assure your system is recognised correctly, if not you can post the results here in the thread or force the tool to use specific brand.

It is meant to be used during system setup.

Win 7 generally starts in Trial (aka Initial Grace with 30 days) mode. Only Evaluation copies (mostly 90 days) cannot be activated.

Read Big Red Letters on first page of this thread and Please read the 'readme' files included in the download folder, for additional information

You can force install 'ANY' brand theme by reading and using the Force_Theme_[readme].txt

Please run the oem query tool and post results.txt file...this hasn't happened in a while so must be something different in your bios. Post the query tool results.txt file so I can see what is happening, thanks. :)

You can do as urie suggests until I can see the results.txt file as a workaround.

    (OP)
Your machine is a COMPAQ product of HP thus would branded as COMPAQ. See #1 bios data...
It isn't HP only but COMPAQ thus why it branded COMPAQ instead of HP. Project worked as it should. If you prefer HP then use the Force_Theme_[readme].txt file with HP only in it and add to the scripts folder then it will be branded as HP. Again, the project worked as it should have.

Thanks for posting the results.txt file. :)

You can use System Brand changer by Alphawaves to change it. In my included link there is a oem's link for use with it which has included images made just for it. ;)

    I'm back again!

How to I activate Windows 8.1 when it asks for a key? Did I do something wrong on the ISO (I followed the instructions). The disc seems to work for installation/boot.
