They must have just added the stdout...thanks for the reg entries...I didn't know about those. I have some time later today so will add entries and upload it later. Thanks again skolar.
I just downloaded the latest version, Project_Jan_04_2015.rar. The Certificates are not in the $oem$ directory or its sub-folders. Is this an error?
Thanks, the sad part is I even looked at the changelog but did not catch that. So there is no way to tell if a cert is missing. I ask because I had an old EMachine that the BIOS was modded for 2.1 SLIC. It was modded to Acer. After modding and installing with the Nov edition of the Project it was not activating. When the BIOS was modded on MDL the person who did the mod included the Acer Certficate. I checked in the Certificate folder of that edition and that Acer cert was not listed, I inserted the Cert manually and it activated. The new edition no longer has the certs listed so if needed is there a way I can check?
You finished that RIGHT as I was about to start integrating. I can feel the mojo in this release. The power is strong.
Yeah, lets add those later down the line. I will pm you when I have more time to play. Just busy now with life. I have two more to add to your list above...maybe we get more as time goes by to make updating worth while. On a personal note, thanks for all your input and help skolar....everyone is greatful.
The certs are just copied and pasted into ini file now so you can still find the cert manufacture and included info. Maybe that cert was not available and thus did not get included. I don't have access to all certs out there but I try my best to keep it updated. If you could share the cert with us....it can then be added. The project is a community effort. Note: I had another person say something similar a few pages back but it was a problem with the slic not being modded correctly. If running Rw.exe and it cant see the slic table then its a problem with the modded slic. It happens sometimes. Worth running Rw.exe to see results if anyone has similar problems. I know yours was just the cert not included.
How to add my pc/laptop local brand into this? like a OEM info then .xml file for registry. Can you tell me? sorry, my grammar is bad.
@ thearczoro Requesting procedure for adding new oem info to project: -Run oem query tool. -Save Results.txt file (if win 8.x edit out your oem-dm key). -Gather all oem info including wallpapers, badge, bar, logo images, certs (vista/win7), oem address and phone number info (usually in a reg file). -If vista/win7 include the oem shared key to be added. -Zip the files up and upload to a upload server and pm me with link. Update: Was thinking of adding a algo to extract and decrypt key from registry for vista/win7 and adding that to the oem query tool output (referenced to the ini file key if included). What does everyone think? Input is welcome. Would not take much...other then some time, which I have very little of now. lol Just to make this clear, it will not decrypt MAC keys. In fact I can add a check for that to handle the error if attempted (Unsupported).
Bro, any extra feature of this nature are very welcome. Please do whatever it needs to add this functionality, imao.
The certificate you uploaded is detailed on 4 occurrences within the 'oemscan.ini' file. ie. CERT|ACER|your certificate data CERT|EMACHINES|your certificate data CERT|GATEWAY|your certificate data CERT|PBELL|your certificate data Special characters of certificate data < & > are escaped by added carat ^ to allow commandline to read|write without error.
@The_Guardian, thanks for all the work you've put into this. I'm glad to see the project revived. I come from an IT and Training background so I've been responsible for OS/Image deployment for thousands of computers over the years, and this sort of things makes lief a lot easier, not to mention when I'm fixing or cleaning the occasional computer for a friend. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I'm eager to get started. I've been looking through the oobe.cmd file and I think I have a pretty good idea of what's going on with it, but I do have a few questions. In an effort to conserve image space, is it an issue if I delete some of the vendor folders that I know I'll never need? Also since I work primarily with Dells, I have my own $oem$ setup that I've been using and I've noticed a few things in there that may be of interest to you. For one, the Dell Win7 DVD that came with one of my laptops also includes a script that modifies the install.ins file in order to bybass the welcome screen in Internet Explorer as well as set the default home page, and support URL. I realize it probably isn't a very high priority since most people don't even use IE anyway, but for the sake of making things more "authentic OEM" I thought it was worth a mention. I also have a vbs script that I've been using that does some further customization for the OEM info including adding the BIOS revision and Model info to the system properties as well as setting the support link to a dell URL that includes the asset tag number, which means the support link actually takes you to the specific page for that computer as opposed to a generic support site. I'm not sure of any of the other OEMs have model-specific URLs but if they do and you're interested, I could help add that to the project as well. Finally, am I still able to use a setupcomplete.cmd in order to do some post-setup installations? Thanks!
@ hmmurdock I believe The_Gardian will be glad as I am right now to see people like you with interesting stuff and eager to collaborate with the project. Thanks for the above and hopefully you stay here for a long time as skolar and other mdl members.
Well, I'm a long time lurker, so I thought it was about time I try and contribute. I've got my spare laptop, and extra SSD and a thumb drive ready to go, so I think I'm going to start tinkering tonight.
Yeah, just delete those in the OEM's folders you do not need. Setupcomplete is safe to use as well. Glad you decided to join our little club. lol Any contributions are welcome. Like I have said before, it is a community effort. I don't have much time now but I try to check in from time to time to see if any issues arise. If you need to talk to me just pm me and we can discuss this further. You have some interesting tools. Update @ Mr.X, I got the algo working and output to txt file. Just have to update code in the cmd file of the query tool. Will work on the query tool more tomorrow. Just wanted to give you a heads up. What should we name the output for the registry key....Installed Reg Key, maybe? Input is welcome. I think I will include the output even in win8x/win10 as well in order to make sure its the oem-dm key installed or if failure the Installed Reg Key would differ from the correct oem-dm key. If correct oem-dm key then it would show in both sections. This would be nice for troubleshooting the project I believe. Like I said input is welcome.
Hello, first thanks for your great work I'm not good with code and i hope i can help, but i only ask for a favor For my personal opinion the notebooks model number is not important like Dell N5110 there's many N5110 but everyone have unique service tag number, can you get the real model number instead of general one? that will help if user loose the real model and don't have to install something to know the real model Sorry for my bad English and thanks again
