that's strange as when you obtain digital license, it does not matter how often you change the hard drive, win10 should be automatically activated on the new hard drive.

  2. Yes, i can verify, changing hard drive void the digital licence. i just tested it again with my old hard drive and activation worked immediately but when i tried it on new hard drive then all the troubleshoot regarding activation failed.

The installed edition on the new hard drive has to be the same than the one that was installed on the old hard drive , otherwise the automatic activation will not happen.

  8. yes its too obvious, i know it everyone knows it. if you have 2 hard drive then you can check it also.you know for fun.

Disk replacement should not undo the HWID. Changing Mobo/LAN will.

  13. i've tested with my old and new hdd 2 times (total 4 clean install) and activation is not working in new hdd. activation troubleshoot is also not working.

This has been tested since 10240 (the very first win 10 release) and on all my tests, the new fresh install got the HWID back.

When you run the QT from the MRP thread, what key does it say is installed (last 5 characters)?

  15. i havent tried mrpqt. will report you back.

My understanding is that the Win10 edition in the old hard disk was originally activated on a different PC and hence is tied to a different hardware. Is it the case ?

Based on this post, it's the same hardware, another hdd, and clean install. should still get the HWID activation.

Quite possible but he hasn't really specified if the activation has been done on the same machine and sometimes people often forget on things they made in the past,to me that is very much the only thing that explains why he didn't get the activation done automatically on the new hard drive.

First i noticed, the date of the not activated install is 1 day before the activated install.

    Not activated : 26-02-2018 18:36:53
    Activated : 27-02-2018 08:58:39

Second i noticed is that the two installs are one day apart.
