    So if i have an hp pc, do i need to update my bios for the slic keys and certs to work when windows 7 comes out? Or could i already have slic 2.1 in my bios?

    sure, i always use linux :rolleyes: :p

    oh my god, so no gun needed! :D

    I was using vista in that machine, so I can test vista activation to see if still work with your moded bios. After, i´m installing x64 win7 7264. But I think that there is no way to test slic in pre rtm releases, right?

    Edit: great! at this very moment i have win7 RC7100, dont know if RW will work, but i´ll test in a minute :D

    What will happen on double boot vista/7 both activated with slic?

    Will vista remain activated with slic 2.1?

    There's also Alienware SLIC v.2.1 available from Alienware notebook BIOS update on Dell website, but it has different pubkey inside, so the current Alienware certificate wouldn't work with it.

    The 8th byte in OEMTableID should be changed from 20h to 00h (to coinside with marker data).

    There was A LOT of asus notebook bioses updated today, i checked them few but didnt find any slic inside (its wierd, checked like 5 different models and no slic...), so someone else check them that know exactly how to extract them etc

    Hi SoLoR - I'm constantly monitoring all Asus notebook bios updates on Asus FTP (I'm checking them every 1 or 2 days).
    Till now I dug through over hundred of them and all SLICs are 2.0 till now.
    IMHO Asus is either
    - awaiting the code of seven to reach gold status and release updates afterwards, or
    - is using SLICS 2.1 internally only (flashing NB that will be eglible for the Win7 upgrade program) and only release the bios updates on their site after Win7 is gold.

    I'll check all the new bioses when I'm back from work (ETA ~7 Hours)
    and give you all my report.
