what is the best tool to add the msi 2.1 to a actual msi / ami notebook bios? and do we know for sure the msi 2.1 slic is legit that is posted already? i have the mmtool kit will this work for this? also can i have both the vista 2.0 and the 7 2.1 installed at the same time my msi bios needed no mods for vista the slic was already there in the bios. thank you everyone!! EDIT: my msi 1.0z gx620 bios already has the 2.1 installed according to the ami slic / mmtool program!! if it says its there is that correct?? edit again: i just tried running the slic tool to add a 2.1 to my asrock bios'. the 2.0 asus works perfect but anything else i try from the 2.1 list says there is not enough room for it?? what can i do with this now? now if i use the dynamic method it goes through and says its succesful and if i validate it it says it is okay. should i trust it with the dynamic method?? thank you again
You can only have ONE SLIC in the bios at a time.. Some slics work for both...Remember...One SLIC per BIOS..... You are playing with bricking your board now.....
Give me a link to the Asrock board in PM, or make a request in the forum. There should be a way to mod the new bios rev. for SLIC..I would like to see why the tool does not find room...
I'm constantly monitoring the ASUS new-bios releases for SLIC 2.1. Till now - unlucky. Found only a yet another whole new pubkey for ASUS - 071009 It's in K70IOAS210 bios.
So, I currently have an Acer laptop which came with Vista pre-installed. It came with Home Premium, but I installed Ultimate and (without touching the BIOS) installed the cert and key, and Ultimate activated fine. Do I just need to flash my BIOS with a modified version with the Acer SLIC 2.1 inserted? And then install Windows 7, and when the cert and key are made public, use those and I'm activated? And, by installing the SLIC2.1, will that *overwrite* the SLIC2.0, or simply append it? Will Vista still be activated?
Are any of the Dell 2.1 SLICs from laptops? If so scould you tell me which laptops they are? I'm looking to extract the rom image and compare it to an extracted 2.0 laptop image (1525).
