    HI everyone.

    I have a weird situation:
a frien of mine got an laptop with win8 preinstalled. he hates win8 he also got a win7 ultimate license. he tried to install win7, managed to erase the recovery partition and meesed up the win7 install.
after a month he asked me if i can help him.
    my question:
can i create a dual boot recovery installation? win7 and win8?
    Thank You

    I have two questions :
    1. I want to install recovery for windows 8.1 update 1.
    + I have to choose:
    Folder "Windows 8"
    or
    Folder "Windows 8.1-WIM Boot" ????
I'm using a regular hard drive.

    2. In the downloaded file has two folders and I do not know what that is: folder "Source" and folder "$SignApplication - Do not distribute$". How to use them?

    Thanks

Windows 7 --> For Windows 7 (all versions)
Windows 8 --> For Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 (all version) - Regular mode (not WIM Boot)
Windows 8.1 - WIM Boot --> Only for Winodws 8.1 Update if you want to use WimBoot

So, in your case, use "Windows 8" forlder.

The "SIGN" stuff is mostly an example for system integrator. It allows to sign my own executable with a certificate. When done, the "warning" box about the fact you are trying to run a software which requires administrator rights go from yellow to blue.

    Yes.
If I use a regular hard drive (no SSD) -> I can select the folder Win8.1-WIM Boot?
Folder "Source" in the file downloading it is what? You can guide?

WimBoot requires SSD and Windows 8.1 Update. For regular HDD or revious version of Windows 8/8.1 you must use regular mode using the Windows 8 folder.

The source folder contains all the icons I used plus the source code for my GUI in AutoIT format.

You can use my included version of OSCDIMG, it works well. Newer version should be OK also without any problem. Juste don'T forget to use the 32bits one.

For the icons, never had any problems. Check you video drivers. Also, you may try to delete the ICONCACHE.db file and reboot.

    Embarrased to ask :p

Does anyone still have my AutoUnattend.xml files? For creating 3 and 4 partitions and booting into Audit mode? Seems I've lost them :/

Maybe you can look at old recovery image and extract \windows\panther\unattend.xml.
You would have to edit out the "was processed true" bit...

    No old images left ;p

Cant remember.. Maybe not. I found one working that created 3 partitions atleast.

    Edit:
Can I just copy the Unattend file for amd64 into x86 without problems or does it need editing? I know I had one perfect xml....

    Sure I could do that.....

But I cant edit it from the Windows Install. I may not always have access to a computer or my OTG-adapter.

Move folder to your the root of your c:\ drive....make sure under folder properties that it does NOT say read only...if so then uncheck it and apply. Try running script again as admin. Let us know how it turns out. ;)
