The only time i`ve ever run into an issue by removing the pagefile is when a machine of mine was running less than 4gb Ram. I have disabled the pagefile on all my machines and in 5yrs i have yet to run into an issue but the pagefile is there for a purpose and that is to compensate for the lack of ram. Any machine running under 4gb of ram i don`t think it would be a good idea to remove it but that's up to you.
In general, that's a very good advice, but most time SSD's are used in Laptops and there you've only one choice, use a Caddy instead of DVD (if even have one?)! If the machine is a desktop, even a normal HDD would just do the job!
Have a static pagefile set for 4 years on my medium price range SSD and absolutely no problems showing in SMART values, the 'problem' discussed is highly overrated . The page file is barely used in general if enough RAM is installed.
I used to not have any pagefile and everything worked fine but now I use a 256 mb pagefile just because I want the system to create logs/dump if something crashes.
