Hi i have a Lenovo SL500 and it has absolutely no way of controlling the fan speed. It keeps overheating because it has a single fan that only reacts to CPU temp and not GPU. I started having problems with the fan after updating my bios(stupid) and installing windows 7. not sure which caused the problem. My fan is just generally unreactive and almost never kicks into high gear.

I was wondering if its possible to add manual fan speed control to BIOS or change the temperature limits somehow. My comp can go up to 85 CPU and 109 GPU and fan is still in low gear :(.

I realize adding a completely new feature to bios might be impossible, but i thought i'd ask anyway...

PS i have already tried speedfan, rivatuner tpfancontrol. none of them work at all

Or :D maybe someone knows of a way to give the fan controller(?) false readings so it would speed up my fan and i wouldnt constantly crash because the controller only cares about CPU

I remember some Toshiba laptops had a problem reporting the temperature to the NVIDIA drivers. The trick was to hard-code a fixed temperature in the ACPI DSDT table.

How about the link to the BIOS? Which video driver are you using...also from Lenovo or NVIDIA/ATI?

Got the latest BIOS from Lenovo site. 1.30.(cant post links :( low postcount)

And a NVIDIA Geforce 9300M GS with latest drivers (275.33)
In the Nvidia control panel all the fan options are grayed out. I think only the CPU temp is connected to the fan operations, which would be silly, but still thats the only temp it reacts to.

If I could somehow send the wrong CPU temp reading, that would probably work. :D Thanks for your help

sorry for the retarded linking. im still unable to post proper links :(

Oh god, and it insists on putting a space in the number of the file there, even though there should be none.

wow that DSDT of mine has been downloaded a lot of times o.o. Im guessing nothing can be done, was thinking of buying an external switch for it, if those kinda things are even sold
