@RanCorX2 As I already said I appreciate a lot some of your ideas BUT please stay away from taliban/hardcoded rules, they are just stupid (I mean in general) Actually both XP and 7 (the most successful Windows OSes) are sequels. The version number clarifies it, if plain logic is not enough XP=5.1 Seven=6.1 Both perfected a good, but half backed, revolution. So sequels are good or bad? It depends, as almost everything.
you missed my point... i was just using 7, 8 and 10 as an example. 8 being after 7 and 10 being the horrible 3rd sequel where stuff really went south. one could also do 95, 98 and me, 95 being good, 98 a buggy mess (although se was better) and me which was just plain crap. or if you want to be picky vista, 7 and 8 (6.0, 6.1 & 6.2) 6.2 being the 3rd and worst, but 7 as 2nd but turning out better than first, 6.0 (i actually liked vista)
now got windows 8.x network flyout enabled by default, no need for the replacevan reg edit anymore. netshell.dll 6.2.8148.0, van.dll 10.0.10056.0, pnidui.dll 6.4.9883.0 spent all day on just that, had to find a combination that worked, either no flyout would show or flyout would show but desktop would refresh randomly (explorer would keep restarting) replaced imageres.dll so now have windows 7.
Classic Shell is perfect if you want a Windows 7 style desktop, I have used it for years, since Windows 8 was launched. Long winded to set up but your personal configuration can easily be saved for another day. Nothing comes close, I have tried all the alternatives.
It's official, you're crazy. So you spent all day to "fix" something which is already fixed. You spent all day to replace a feature that can do both the old and new style, with just one mouse click, with something that is stuck to one behavior only. Perhaps the W8 flyout is one of the greatest departure from win 7 behavior Perhaps the w10 flyout is one of the area where MS did a most evident U turn, going back very close to the w7 style
if you aren't going to add anything useful to the discussion stop posting. you seem to forget the idea of this project...which is to remove as much of the metro / modern stuff as possible and restore old features (even if it means a windows 8 alternative i.e. the old van doesn't work on any os above 7) a compromise has to be made at times. when you remove the shell experiences, the new flyout doesn't work anymore and the network icon is useless, plus it doesn't have the original menu that opens the network and sharing center, therefore the old dll is required to restore a workable network icon the old 8 flyout is only enabled from the registry which needs a permission change before being able to change it. the w8 flyout doesn't require the TextServicesFramework task to be running unlike the w10 flyout. so, no, i did not spend all day fixing something that was already fixed, i restored an old feature and made it work like it used to. congrats on making the ignore list, same goes for anyone else who isn't going to adding anything useful to the thread. @Kim100 I think startisback is better than classic shell as it has the old shell jumplist which is perfect when you've removed the shell experience host, plus classic shell is now discontinued (maybe someone will continue it later, who knows) I also don't know of any other menu that has the classic taskbar jumplist feature?
I think that once you put something public, you have to politely accept that some people will criticize some of your choices. Otherwise keep it as a private challenge. My idea of a clean OS differs from yours. I couldn't care less of the baroque visual style of Win 7, I care of the usability and I care, A LOT, about the unneeded crap and the related privacy concern. You seem more concerned about square corners rather than real metro crap and usability regressions. That isn't what you wrote before. Blame on you If you're not able to explain what you did. I suggest you to open a forum yourself and disable the ability to accept more subscription. This way no one will criticize your choices. Wrong.
There are already a zillion of messages that explains why CS is far better than anything else, 3/4 in this thread alone. Why I have to waste my time repeating them? Just read, test and learn, then decide. CS is not a commercial SW, neither I'm a shareholder of any SW company, so feel free to use whatever you like. My life will not change at all.
Another valid reason for you to stop posting here and harassing his project. Support you point of view by creating your project/thread. This project dev already asked politely for your posting withdrawn. So Its time for Forum Management to step down and act.
Nice thread, but confused which file that must to used to makes windows 10 free from bloadware. Sorry i'm newbie on this but really want using windows 10 light like windows 7.
There's quite a lot to remove if you want to debloat 10, if you can hang on and wait for me to finish the project you and others can have a tinker.
Oops, I think this project was finished since you release steps and download link. Oke, I will wait you finish the project.
yeah that was mistake, there were some issues so i decided to work on it some more before sharing it again.
To cut out the need to do the reg bit in the first place and it makes "connect to" work like it used to in the network connections folder, the button on rs3 just opens the settings app main page, as does the menu option.
it's called being an "enthusiast". I wanted to see if some old features could be restored by trying various methods, and it worked. not sure why you have a problem with this? are you some fanboy who's scared microsoft will add old features back to windows? why do you keep wasting time posting in my thread? nothing better to do?
I really wish that people who start threads could delete any post in that thread along with preventing certain people from posting in said thread to kill the trolls.
