On a laptop shipped natively with Windows 8, I’ve also installed Windows 10 in a .vhd file in July 2016 , which at the end of the procedure was automatically activated with a digital right not linked to an account. I want to change disk to install only the latest version of Windows 10. My question is: what should I do to transfer the activation information on the new Win10 installation ?
You can check this post here on MDL https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...g-through-the-complete-upgrade-process.64770/
If you install on the same machine/computer, you do not need to do anything, but it is still advisable to register this computer with your Microsoft account. Peale paigaldamist aktiveeritakse Windows automaatselt. Just in case, you might back up your personal files.
Depends on if the laptop has a msdm valid for 8/10, if so, any new windows 10 install (the edition the msdm is for, home or pro), it will get a hwid based on the msdm. You can see if the msdm is valid for 8 andor 10 you can run the QT from here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/multi-oem-retail-project-mrp-mk3.71555/#post-1283849
If I check the bios acpi table with Aida64 I can see that this laptop has a msdm record where Windows 8 product key is stored. This is probably why my first Windows 10 installation was automatically activated after installation: the new os has detected a valid Windows 8 license within the Windows 10 free update period.
Yes indeed. You are correct, sir. And it is even still possible to get an HWID if your MSDM table contains a product key.
OEMRET win 10 Home and Pro can readout the msdm key and use it for activation, it will result in a hwid. I would have liked to see the QT results, it should have mentioned: Code: Valid OEM Consumer OS : 8/10
