A question I always had: If these scripts use the original ISO to check for errors, what the hell happens when the OS is actually updated through patches? Wouldn't the use of the dated ISO compromise the actual repair since all that stuff was updated along the way?
It will only replace exact file that it finds. If you do a /resetbase and the file doesn't exist on the install media, it will not replace it; obviously.
thx Murph; running your LTSB 64. ran the script with the dvd in drive. when done the script says it could not find the source. script did point to the correct dvd drive.
My LTSB 64? The privacy LTSB N x64 version I made? I made it very clear that it had stuff removed from it. It's not repairable.
You have to have your image mounted if you don't want it to use online repair. Online repair is only there as a last-ditch effort. It almost never works.
hi Murph .. not the LTSB privacy. this one .. Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB 10240. 2015-08-06 10:57:10 english 64. tried with mounted iso and also with the dvd. thx
Very rarely it comes across an issue that simply isn't repairable. It happens sometimes. Make sure that it mentions that it's using the image. If it says that, and it still fails, your best option is to re-install. It's MS's installer problem, not the image.
I used the original DVD and pointed to it with this command: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:WIM:F:\sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess ('F' where DVD was). That counts as mounted, doesn't it?
Mounted to virtual drive. The iso is found as the index selection shows what version of windows it is.
