If you've previously saved the Updatepack7R2-20.11.11.exe file in your computer for future use and have renamed it to Updatepack7R2--ie11++.exe, make sure to rename it back to its original name before you run the UpdatePatch-20.11.17.exe file with it. If you don't, you'll be greeted with an error message when you run the UpdatePatch-20.11.27.exe file. It took me several minutes to figure out what I was doing wrong.

EDIT I am having trouble updating using the latest UpdatePack7R2-20.11.27.exe I found an old C drive and thought I would update it. The OS is Win7 SP1. UpdatePack7R2-20.11.27.exe installed many updates but then I noticed the old drive still had Internet Explorer 9 on it!! I renamed UpdatePack7R2-20.11.27.exe to UpdatePack7R2--ie11++.exe and tried to update IE 9 to 11 without success. I tried renaming to UpdatePack7R2.exe and using the following in command-line. UpdatePack7R2.exe /ie11 /silent /reboot Again IE9 is not updating to IE11 Could someone please let me know what I am doing wrong? Thank you.
= but the /IE11 switch is disabled/removed from the pack, it now always updates to IE11 and UpdatePack7R2--ie11++.exe seems still needed for online scenarios.
Thank you for your reply and so fast! I have tried renaming to UpdatePack7R2--ie11++.exe without success. The Updatepack does its usual thing of "The system is being scanned for installed updates" then just closes. I perhaps should have mentioned the Win OS is 64bit.
The hash of the .exe seems ok so I assume it is not damaged during download or patching. SHA1 = 6BCACFD052905322C3631C36C3812026E5777625 Could you please suggest some tests I could carry out to get it working?
Probably after using 20.11.11 updatepack 20.11.27 won't add anything. Testing now. EDIT, already removed the 20.11.11 ISO, so will take some more time to test.
But wouldn't it still add IE11 when renamed to UpdatePack7R2--ie11++.exe as the current version is IE9. Thanks for testing
It probably doesn't check the existence of IE11. Did you already use 20.11.11 before running 20.11.27? Can you copy/paste the content of c:\windows\UpdatePack7.log?

You first ran 20.11.27 twice next 20.10.15 twice and next 20.1.17 once (latest non ESU pack) and next 20.11.27 multiple times ?
Sounds about right Once I noticed that running 20.11.27 had not installed IE11 I tried it again. I wondered if the IE11 install option had been removed so I ran older versions of UpdatePack to see if they would install it. I then tried to use command switches etc.
