For simplix own option it's just drag and drop the ISO on the updatepack, no need for a video. For using this tool: MDL Win 7 Tool for SiMPLiX UpdatePack AiO ISO (with install.wim/esd) Creation It's simple too:
That's all good and well. However, it would be ideal if web browsers such as Edge, Chrome, Brave & Firefox could also be updated to each of their latest versions. Microsoft should consider offering an officially updated "Windows 7 - version 2024" that could be installed on the millions of soon-to-be "obsolete" PC's that don't include TPM 2.0 & other hardware requirements for installing Windows 11. Maybe: limited to only 64-bit CPU's(?).
That has nothing to do with the VIDEO tutorial request and also not the purpose of this tool, on modern hardware use modern OS.
You misunderstand: the purpose of a "Windows 7 - version 2024" would be to rescue the hundreds of millions of older Windows 11 non-compliant hardware from becoming e-waste, after Windows 10 loses security update support next year. In other words: an operating system designed to continue getting security updates, both for web browsers & the O.S. itself. Which the current Windows 7 O.S. is incapable of supporting. The Simplix updates do not fix the loss of web browser (Edge, Chrome, etc.) security updates, when installed on Windows 7. Windows 7 has less stringent hardware requirements, compared with later versions: Windows 8/8.1/10/11.
There is no Win 7 2024 and because of the old hardware win 10 will get extended updates. 2015 LTSB, 2016 LTSB, 2019 LTSC and 2021 LTSC and normal 10 22H2, all should run fine on older hardware. And again, this is simply an update tool not a magic wand.
@vailr You seem to be missing the point completely. You're ranting about Microsoft's 9-year-old decision to phase out windows 7 in the thread of a tool designed to update windows 7. You're thinking in a direction Microsoft will never think in. They have no interest in keeping windows 7 alive, be it with updates or some collab with browser makers for extended support. And no, Microsoft doesn't care about the end-user, it cares about its own corporate interest - money. What's left is to thank the people who put in the work and use their products(for free, mind you) without complaining about what Microsoft does or doesn't do. Also, you're not entirely correct about your general idea of windows 7 being completely cut off. It still works. Even for browsing.
Does UpdatePack7 not work for preparing pre-SP1 ISOs? My original Ultimate disc is from 2009. I don't want a newer disc, I don't trust M$ sources after they started telemetry and I didn't think I'd need a newer disc before that happened. (edit: I ripped my disc to ISO then mounted the ISO and copied files out into F:\w7exp) I tried this: Code: UpdatePack7R2.exe /boot=F:\w7exp\sources\boot.wim /index=* /wimfile=F:\w7exp\sources\install.wim /index=* /nvme /fixon /ie11 /nospace On boot.wim index=1 (WinRE) I get an error that there is no SP1 (my system has SP1 obviously and the SP1 files are also in the folder with UpdatePack). It goes past this partition but says "Batch integration failed" at some point on install.wim. When I try this: Code: UpdatePack7R2.exe /WimFile=F:\w7exp\sources\install.wim /Index=2 /Boot=F:\w7exp\sources\boot.wim /Index=2 /NVMe /FixOn /Optimize I get a weird message that something on boot.wim failed with error 0, I have no idea if it did anything with install.wim, the folder size doesn't seem different. Files in UP7's folder: Code: 49,417,548 dotNetFx48_20240213_x64.WA 36,585,390 dotNetFx48_20240213_x86.WA <DIR> uefi7 863,970,248 UpdatePack7R2.exe 4,316,037,120 W7ULTx86x64.iso 7,049,464 Win7USB3.exe 947,070,088 windows6.1-kb976932-x64.exe 563,934,504 windows6.1-kb976932-x86.exe What am I doing wrong here?
The target image (live or offline) must have SP1 already installed/integrated. AFAIK it does not work with RTM (7600) targets. Either use an ISO with SP1 already integrated (they were released way before the Telemetry craze begun) or integrate the SP1 into your media yourself (DISM). Note that SiMPLiX pack will install updates that are known to contain Telemetry, but it uses its own method for disabling that crap. So, the, media you are starting with is largely irrelevant, as long as it contains SP1. However, for best results, use clean original* Windows 7 SP1 media. *original in this sense means the first issued SP1 media, not the later SP1 hackjob found on the MS servers for a while.
https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-install-wim-esd-creation.79421/#post-1516362 You can use the ISOs from here, and maybe use that tool to update the ISO too.
ps: The ISOs from here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...win7-distribution.45005/page-241#post-1830179 and here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...win7-distribution.45005/page-241#post-1830180 Were the same ISOs on the same host
Hi, I had made a boot stick clean with the penultimate update pack where a USB mouse and keyboard worked during the installation process. With the latest update it did not work during the installation of Windows! Do you know what the problem is? Sometimes the mouse works, sometimes not...
There's the option of temporarily using a PS/2 mouse, until a proper USB port driver can be installed. Then invoke the on-screen keyboard during the initial Windows setup.
As I said, I had already made a boot stick with the latest version of Simplix. There the USB port always worked during the installation. But I wonder why it doesn't work this time!!!!!
