I suppose Simplix changed the site. I usually use the torrent link. The executable is always digitally signed so it doesn't really matter which way you download it.
I was also using the torrent link for years, until last September (month that my old pc died completely after a blackout, I was using it as a network server). Then I moved to the rpi (3b+) and its garbage wifi. Although the speed at direct link downloads is very consistent and maxed out, it is the exact opposite when downloading via torrent. E.g. it takes 10-15 minutes for 800mb file at 12Mbps (my internet speed), but it takes almost that when downloading it via torrent. I guess the rpi does not handle the too many connections the torrent protocol makes, but I have set my client to accept only 50!
Simplix replied here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...win7-distribution.45005/page-242#post-1831742 Considering this thread is the official english support site and the links are mirrors of the original packs for many years, all files published in this thread are original.
For the Windows Updates, yes. For .NET and VC++, you need the corresponding *.WA files next to the main executable. The WAs are linked in this post.
Thank you Found them, just to be on the safe side: The last regular up date I installed was the one in Feb 2024, only the last three months ar needed. In Enthousiast's post I find updates dated 2010 ?
The latest .NET and VC++ ones are from 2024-05-14. Only the DirectX Redist is from 2010 and hasn't changed, since.
This question has probably been asked before, but for how much longer will Simplix keep releasing the update pack. It has always been a brilliant package an I hope he continues to support windows 7. Just thought I would ask. Thanks.
