Simplix does NOT tamper with or otherwise modify the included Windows updates as of Dec17 pack. Only *after* its pack is applied to a live system or an offline-updated ISO is used to install W7, both telemetry and "processor checking" corrections are applied. Without going into detail: telemetry is handled in the same way as in abbodi's reg tweaks here (Windows updates installer) or here (telemetry script) and WU processor checking is handled in a similar way to well known wufuc project does.
Good info. Thanks for clearing that up. So to achieve the same state as Simplix pack you could even use standard WU Client to automatically update(excluding 'Recommended') and then run abbodi's W10-Block script as a scheduled boot task, which would disable any reactivation of telemetry components? The last edit on abbodi's W10-Block post is October 14. Simplix changelog shows October November December each have new KBs that get telemetry disabled, KB4041681 KB4048957 KB4054518. Do these need new script lines to disable new telemetry components? Does a Simplix system have other undesirable components disabled, more than a WU updated/W10-Block system, or would they be the same?
All credits to abbodi. You can't rely on WU engine for W7, period. While it has got some improvements, the update supersedence chains are not properly maintained by MS, so you end up installing unneeded updates just to "clear out the list". Simplix does this correctly (so abbodi does for WHD+installer), though Simplix decision to avoid Convenience Rollup (given he's including Monthly RUs) is only making his work harder, and applying his pack to take longer. To answer your question, yes you could, but I don't recommend the standard WU approach, at least for a full go from scratch SP1 source to a fully up to date system. This is Simplix thread and I can only say his is a perfectly valid project. Abbodi answered to you above. Monthly RUs get replaced in Simplix pack, yes, but required post-install telemetry corrections don't, so far. Other than delivered as advertised telemetry disabling and WU CPU exclusion/ban removal, no other system tweaking changes that I know are applied, that's your job.
I confess that I am no expert and I do not have the skills to check anything myself. However, after reading this thread it seems as if Simplix and Enthousiast are very kindy providing us with an update Micro$oft "should" be providing to it's customers. Thank you Simplix and Enthousiast for all your work, it is much apriciated.
Hope someone sees this, but MDL is truly incredible. I was able to download, install and update W7 on my Kaby Lake processor with no issues. Thank you
On all possible bat files it says the same, it can't find DISM nothing changed since the last time i've used it.
