The old script is out of date. I recommend using the new script and doing the whole process with a clean image, without modifications.
Okay I did, even though when I tried DLing all the updates keeps giving an error, so I guess I will download them after the installation, also your ISO is almost double the size of the original, i'm guessing the original had less updates on it.
To minimize apps to install, my test has shown that ClassicPaint (4 MB) alone is enough. Take Screenshot using ALT+Print Sc, this works on any Windows, from 98 to 11. no need of Snipping. then post and edit using ClassicPaint. Thanks, SunLion and dobbelina
Without SunLion's endless endeavors, this thread had been died off long time ago. I tested the original script, it's broken because of latest MSFT hotfixes. Sunlion's solution is an easier way to install iso with latest MSFT hotfixes. either Windows 10 or 11.
Absolutely! use as much as you want. If you want them to be unattended, rebuild the WinRAR without a password, I added passwords for 2 reasons. 1. Gives 1 extra step to the user so not to install by mistake 2. Minimizes false positives by AV's I'm fine tuning Notepad at the moment, so download that one in about 24 hours as i might update the executable.
Guys do I mount this just as usual i.e. using Rufus on a USB? Because I just used an install on a laptop and even though the script ran and made a renewed ISO file it didn't seem to do anything, the windows was the original installation, edge still there searchbar, no openshell etc.
SunLion, Hello, you have two applications in your APPX folder: Microsoft.WindowsCalculator_2021.2502.2.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.Msixbundle Microsoft.ZuneMusic_11.2502.4.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.Msixbundle Do you have a standard application Microsoft.MediaPlayer_xxxxx.Msixbundle I really need ...
I am very grateful to you. I will do what you suggested, so that they are silently installed. Can the ms-settings:advanced-apps command be run from CMD? This would make it easier to silently install Paint.
Did you get an error during installation? For older PCs you may need to apply the patch from @Enthousiast: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/win-11-boot-and-upgrade-fix-kit-v5-1f-released.83724/
To open the app execution alias settings page from CMD run explorer ms-settings:advanced-apps and omit the third line in the WinRAR sfx script Setup=Paint\Paint.exe (That Paint.exe is an Autohotkey compiled script that makes the GUI at the end of the install to open the settings page)
Thank you for your reply! Actually, I would like a command to disable all aliases at the end or before installing mspaint-classic. I've been searching, but so far I haven't found a solution. If I don't find a solution for this, I will leave MsPaint to be installed manually after Windows is fully installed. I could include the other SFX in the script as an option to install via runonceex.
Since I added SetuserFTA you actually don't need to disable the aliases, classic paint will still open the most common filetypes, .png, .jpg etc by default even with the aliases active. If you script an uninstall for the store paint app the aliases disappear.
That's great news! The script by default removes all appxpackages, including mspaint, so I think it's fixed. Thanks for your help!
